I am one of those people that have been a loyal "24" follower from the very first season. However, after Sutherland's political agenda being exploited I vowed to no longer watch this garbage. I was SO upset, I did not finish watching the rest of the show. Keifer, UP YOURS!!!

Hey, nothing wrong if they have taken measures not to waste energy. The biggest problem is the show has jumped the shark. The story has just gotten ridiculous. I can’t believe Al Sharpton hasn’t complained that the terrorists are black.

People come on its a TV show.... meaning don't take it seriously and don't care about the political leanings of the actors (which 95% of them are hardcore left). So just sit back and enjoy watching jack kick the living hell out of some terrorists

Yikes. They obviously don’t know who their audience is. I’ve never watched the show, but even I know they have a large conservative audience, and that a lot of conservatives love Jack Bauer.

I didn’t realize Garafalo (or however you spell her name) was on the show (which shows, apparently, how often I watch it). I had it on last night for the first time in a long time - when she showed up on screen, I switched to Sponge Bob.

I’ve watched since the show started in 2001. Best show on TV. But notice how in the first year since the departure of Joel Surnow, the Conservative creator of the show (who is still a producer but no longer involved in daily production and writing), the show has taken its idiotic PC twist this season. Although I am not up-to-date on the series (I haven’t watched last night’s ep), I am getting sick and tired of Renee and her PC whining! I just wish Jack would put a bullet in her and move on! ;-D

No, not climate change. He said ‘climate problem’.

The one message that comes through this season is that torture works. Look how quickly the President caved when presented with just the THREAT of torture.

the plot is more ridiculous than other 24 seasons....but the
pro-torture message is strong and good.

I think the green thing is just a ploy to take heat away from the torture thing.

I don't know if I would be rooting for the Jack Bauer side if the current POS resident was locked in a safe room.

He has destroyed more wealth in just over a month, just to push his Bolshevik agenda, than anything I could have ever imagined.

I’ve been a loyal 24 watcher for at least the last 4 seasons and the ones I missed I watched on DVD. But this year the show is just boring. The story-line is absurd. Garafalo is a joke. Jack isn’t Jack. I want to the old Jack back. I want CTU back. This year is lost. Hopefully they will learn their lesson and we will get back to the good times next year. I’m hopeful but certainly not confident.

Before the actor's strike and before Keifer had to do his stint in the joint there was a few stories in the press about the 24 production going “green”, they even alluded that the plotline for that season was to have a “green” message.
I had been wondering what had happened, obviously things changed with the strike and all, but the lil’ PSA last nite came as no surprize to me.

It was not the show that was disturbing or “PC”, it was the fact that they threw in their Political agenda (climate change) in between commercials....like we don’t hear enough of this from the MSM!!

Did you see “Jack” sitting on his chair like a politician campaigning (this was not part of the series, just a political commercial) about climate change...BARF!

Didn’t the 24 producers realize 90% of audience was conservative.

Yet they go and hire a lefty bomb thrower like Garfalo and allow Keifer to bullypulpit his leftwingism.

And they wonder why the audience is down?

Jack does seem rather mellow this season. He allowed Renee to pull a gun on him -- twice, and slap him -- twice.

In previous seasons, once and it would have been a dirt nap.

I think the show this season is an excellent defense of “coercive” interrogation techniques. The “PC whining” that some complain about is necessary to show that this is what we are up against. Last night’s episode even showed how the big attack could have been foiled if Jack had been allowed about three more minutes with the Taser.

I also cheered when he called senator who was grilling him “weak”. That was a great speech he gave about the need to get dirty with the evil people.

So, our story so far: The White House has been taken over by a thug who helped engineer a violent takeover of an African nation. Now, let’s talk about 24.... (rimshot)

I always tape it. That way I can fast forward through all the commercials. Also, how many times is Jack going to have to keep saving the libTARDS from their stupidity? He needs to just tell them what will happen if they don’t let him do what he has to do to save their stink’en butts and when they say “you can’t do those kinds of things”, just walk away and let the bad guys blow them up. I think I’ve thought of the words “I’ve told you so” a million times while watching each episode. I hope “24” wakes up the libs but not holding my breath.

Keifer Sutherland talks about climate change and how the screening of "24" is a "green" studio

I believe this was made known in the summer of 2008.

Lots of FR discussion back then. The concensus was that the show content wouldn't change, just how the film is produced; it would be produced just like all other shows.

I don't think anyone expected there to be a "green" message during the shows. I dunno, maybe Hollywood sees '24' as a way to bring green propaganda to conservatives. I think they do this at the risk of losing audience.

Kiefer Sutherland and his father Donald

January, 1971: Jane Fonda raises funds for the Winter Soldier Investigation through a series of benefit concerts. Participants include Fonda, Dick Gregory, Donald Sutherland, Graham Nash, David Crosby and Phil Ochs. Fonda is named Honorary National Coordinator of the event.

February 16, 1971: Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland form "FTA" (F*** The Army), an anti-war, anti-American road show that tours near Army bases in order to undermine troop morale. Skits and songs portray American defeats, soldiers refusing to fight, and the murder of officers by their troops. FTA cast members mingle with soldiers after the shows, encouraging them to desert or to sabotage the Army.

Rare Screening of Restored Archival Print of Classic Vietnam War-Era Documentary

What: Screening of FTA
When: Monday, February 2, 2009
7:00pm, 9:15pm
Where: IFC Center (map)
323 Sixth Avenue
New York, NY, US 10014

With Former FTA Cast Member Jane Fonda in Person
Monday, February 2 at 7:00pm and 9:15pm
7:00pm show sold out!

FTA (1972, Francine Parker), the Vietnam War-era documentary, will have an ultra-rare screening in a restored archival print with former FTA cast member Jane Fonda in person, Monday, February 2 at 7:00pm and 9:15pm; the 7:00pm show is sold out. Following the screening, Ms. Fonda will talk about the film and her work in the controversial antiwar touring show in a discussion moderated by David Zeiger, director of the recent documentary Sir! No Sir! A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit Iraq Veterans against the War, a nonprofit organization that advocates for ending the war and for providing support to returning service members.

Virtually unseen in any format since a brief theatrical run in 1972, FTA documents "the show the Pentagon couldn't stop." The revue, whose letters were said to stand both for Free Theater Associates and also Free (or, at times, another F-word) The Army, brought antiwar entertainment to military personnel at the height of Vietnam. Performers like Ms. Fonda, Donald Sutherland and Holly Near toured towns near military bases around the US and overseas, lending their support to troops who opposed the war. The film follows the troupe as it travels and performs near US military bases on the Pacific Rim -- Hawaii, Okinawa, the Philippines -- encouraging opposition to the war among the rank-and-file of US forces.

FTA is a gritty mix of rollicking performances and GI interviews, juxtaposing lighthearted political satire with the somber realities of war, occupation, and the absurdities of military life, a barbed rebuke to the staid USO program. From Okinawa to the Philippines, stirred by the show's provocative message, the members of the U.S. military find courage to speak out candidly in front of the camera.

Fonda and Sutherland are joined on stage by an all-star cast of musicians and activists including folk musician Len Chandler and comedian Paul Mooney. A fresh look at the Vietnam anti-war movement through the songs and skits that shook a generation, this film will leave you singing along with the fired-up men and women of the military. Foxtrot, Tango, Alpha... F*** the Army!

Print courtesy of the Academy Film Archive.

Tickets: $12 IFC Center members, $15 general admission.

I am sure that Keifer got this as part of his exec producer role. Its Ok if he thinks this way, and I kind of laughed when the commerical came on. Actually, i wondered if Fox couldnt sell the ad time?

But, the show was so ridiculous it is laughable. My wife and I watch it on DVR, letting the show run for a half hour before we start. Then we can fast forward through the commericals, and pause on the frames where Chloe makes her annoying faces.

Last night I must have stopped the video 15 times to yell at the TV, “That wouldnt happen!”

The part where the big black guy has the President’s daughter in the chair just screamed “racism” to me....I am sure we will hear about that.

Take it for what it is: Mind popcorn.

The "Green" spot was totally out of place and caught me by surprise, but then again, I can see how this season has wimped out and become PC in so many ways, not to mention having the weakest plot of any series, I mean come on!

A third world African dictator wannabe is able to hold our government's actions hostage against his coup attempt, being able to break into the White House and corral the President? An American President that's willing to trade off American citizen deaths to prevent a third world African nation bloody coup because she can't stand the thought of that craphole nation's people being slaughtered? The writer's are doing everything they can to make this show jump the shark this season. I don't look for it to make it beyond one more season, if that. Shame.

Notice the message being sent in last night’s show. Here we have a bunch of WH employees rounded up and cowering in fear from the terrorists. Do you think this episode would have been shown immediately after 9-11? The WH employees outnumber the terrorists by 5 to 1. Why not show a heroic attempt to fight back against the terrorists? Surely they know that they will all die anyway if they don’t fight back. Instead we get everyone backing off and caving into the terrorists, even the Secret Service runs away.

It would have been AWESOME if they had shown at least some of the WH employees fighting back and beating the crap out of a terrorist with their bare hands.

Think about a scene where a petite, pretty young secretary picks up a statue of Thomas Jefferson and brains one of the terrorists over the head. Then she picks up the gun and sprays 3 other terrorists at the end of a hallway, while their blood spatters against a portrait of Jimmy Carter.

That, my FRiends, is the way it should have played out.

I think we need to realize that actors for the most part aren’t exactly the brightest people in the universe. Hollywood is very left of center so why wouldn’t most of the actors on 24 be any different, including Kiefer.

Did everyone forget about Jon Voight? He’s a big conservative. I remember him actively supporting W on the War on Terror as well as campaigning for McCain.

My husband and I just laughed when Keifer’s PSA came on. It was just hard to take him seriously talking sensitively about “climate change” after watching him beat the life out of people all season. It is goofy, but we just ignored it and watched the rest of the show. There are very few TV shows I look forward to watching anymore. I really hope to see Chloe beat up Janeane’s character before the season is over.

Yes, there are some conservative actors, but many more are far left.

The RCP calls for the armed overthrow of the U.S. government...

From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :

"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.

And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":

Venezuela's Chavez welcomes Russian warships
Nov 25, 2008
LA GUAIRA, Venezuela – Russian warships arrived off Venezuela's coast Tuesday in a show of strength aimed at the United States as Moscow seeks to expand its influence in Latin America. The deployment is the first of its kind in the Caribbean since the Cold War and was timed to coincide with President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Caracas — the first ever by a Russian president.

>> I was SO upset, I did not finish watching the rest of the show. Keifer, UP YOURS!!!

Good grief, get a grip. Honestly, who cares? Its a free country, and they’re a private entity — if they want to be “carbon neutral”, that’s their own business. If they want to drive electric golf carts and recycle everything, that’s really not my problem, either.

The “green” activities of any particular business or individual are of no concern to me, just as I would suggest that my lack of “green” activities should be of no concern to them. Live and let live.

As for the show — I’ll continue to watch just as I have since 2002.
