So what's the deal now with excerpts now? I see you're editing articles to one or two sentences even if they were excerpted by the poster to begin with.
I thought 300 words was the excerpting standard.
It may be time to take a look at allowing blogs to be listed in news rather than bloggers & personal. Nowadays, much breaking news first comes out in blogs rather than dinosaur media sources.
Just for discussion, moo.
Understanding Engineers - Lesson Five
The graduate with a science degree asks, “Why
does it work?”
The graduate with an engineering degree
asks, “How does it work?”
The graduate with an
accounting degree asks, “How much will it cost?”
The graduate with an arts degree asks, “Do you want
fries with that?”
Lol! Looks like the cat caught the ‘mouse’!
We do allow some blogs or blog postings in news. It depends on if the blog posting is actually 'news', bringing something new or breaking to the story or if it is by an authority. Basically, is it actually news or just some John Doe commenting on news? Michelle Malkin or Neil Boortz's blog, for example, are usually allowed in news.
Here's the text of my original excerpt. I think it got the point across clearly enough:
Officials at the FBI's New York field office - the first line of defense in preventing another terrorist attack here - got so spooked by the threat of bad weather that they declared a "snow day" Monday.Millions of other New Yorkers with jobs unrelated to national security managed to trudge through the snow while the FBI stayed warm at home.
Many agents were notified on their BlackBerrys just before midnight as the first, apparently dangerous flakes began to fall - hours before Mayor Bloomberg reluctantly gave schoolkids the day off.
Other federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, followed. the Drug Enforcement Administration's New York branch, open in the morning, closed up shop soon after, an official said. the Federal Aviation Administration also informed employees at its Queens offices - except for those who work in the control towers - to take a snow day.
President Obama has shown little tolerance for those wimpy about the weather.
Last month, when the Washington private school where he sends Sasha and Malia called a snow day, Obama said DC needed to toughen up.

I asked the question because I really am interested in doing things right when I post. I admit my tone was a little cheeky. However, I figure we're all friends here.
What I’ve seen with our Dinosaur Media threads is blogs that cover TV or newspapers (like this morning’s story on the Ft Worth Star Telegram layoffs) often precede AP stories by a hour or more. Perhaps a little more leeway there.
All just my opinion, of course.
And thanks for the answer.
While he sits in a 78° Offal Office in his shirtsleeves.
I usually only do the first 2 paragraphs ;-}
Oh really?. It’s just that some of us have been suspended for asking questions the AM didn’t like. It’s happened. Deal.
Sorry, I misread your comment and tagline. I thought you were hoping that he would be suspended for asking a question.
Not exactly and you know that. It isn’t the asking the question that gets folks suspended.
;^)
(really big so you know I'm just messing with you)
Do you remember which time it was? (There’s your answer).
LOL!

Some of the AMs nad I go back a ways, and only some of it was funny and harmless.
You’re not the one who laughs?
At us or with us?
"I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him.He said, of course not.
I said, well, I think you stink! And he gave me a technical.
You can't trust em."
