As many listeners know by now, Michael Medved's dad, David Medved, passed away last night after a battle with Lymphoma. Luckily, Michael and his brothers were able to be with him in the hospital last week and share some very good time together as a family. While they knew their dad was dying, his passing did happen sooner than expected.
I spoke with Michael about his dad on Michael's show today (I filled in). Michael had a stop-over in New York on his way to attend the funeral, and wanted to use the time to express his love for his dad on his show. And anyone who listened to it would have to be impressed by the emotional fortitude of Michael as you heard the love in his voice as he described how grateful he was for his time with his dad, and as he described his desire to celebrate a life well-lived.
As some of us at the station were talking about sending condolences to the Medveds, I realized that you too may want the chance to send your condolences or express them here. If you'd like to send the Medved's a card, the station address is:
1820 Eastlake Ave East, Seattle WA 98102
You can send them care of me or the Medved show, either way, it will get to him.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Michael Medved, he’s a conservative radio show host who is syndicated nationally but based in Seattle.
Sad! I lost my dad in 2006 to lung cancer. I know how he feels.
RIP.
Thank you because I thought at first it was the father of the guy who always want God taken out of stuff and suing to make it happen...but never wins thank fully.
Prayers to Michael adn his family at this difficult time.
I think that’s Michael Newdow, or something similar.
Prayers to Michael and family.
Mike is a good man.
Prayers lifted
Sorry to hear about his dad. I don’t get to listen to Michael’s program as much now since they moved it to midnight here in Denver. I know from the way he talked about his dad, he loved him very much. His dad was extremely smart like Michael, but more in a scientific way—worked for NASA then continued to work into his eighties—probably until he wasn’t physically able any more. Sincere condolences to the Medved family.
