Glenn Beck warns about falling for 'Wizard of Oz lie'
Talk show dynamo Glenn Beck is warning Americans not to fall for the "Wizard of Oz lie" – the one that says just because a big government voice is large and intimidating it is right.
Remember that "once you pull the curtain away you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak," he writes on his website promoting Friday's "We Surround Them" special program. It airs at 5 p.m. Eastern Time on the Fox News Channel.
But is there hope yet for an American populace whose members may not want the government borrowing billions to spend, holding talks with potential terrorists and creating federal bureaucracies that dictate decisions in moral dilemmas.
Yes, according to Chuck Norris, martial arts champion, actor, inspiration for children and WND columnist, and his wife, Gena.
"We support Glenn Beck's 'We Surround Them,' because if we the people of America do not unite, the liberties and freedom we have will no longer exist," the Norrises said in a statement to WND.
"Government will have complete control of our lives," they said. "Rise up America or face the consequences."

"It's interesting because I read about John Adams, you know, who said that our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people," Norris said. "It's wholly inadequate for the government of any other. Now, can you see this, Glenn? You see what's happening?"
"You are exactly right," Beck said. "When America listens to her gut and stops listening to all the experts, we're going to be fine."
"The truth is that they don't surround us at all," Beck said, referencing the "Wizard of Oz" lie. The general tone and belief in the country notwithstanding, he said, Americans are not powerless to halt the nation's drift, nor are their voices too quiet to be heard.
"So, how do we show America what's really behind the curtain?" he asks.
First, agree on the values and principles that are important, he said.
Beck's principles are, according to his website:
* America is good
* I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life
* I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday
* The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government
* If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it
* I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results
* I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
* It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion
* The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
And the 12 values are:
* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard work
* Courage
* Personal responsibility
* Friendship

Norris said these are desperate times requiring "some positive desperate measures" as jobs and homes are lost, prices skyrocket and usually dependable institutions fail right and left.
"This can't last much longer," Beck said. "The way the rest of the world, it is going to start to come apart at its seams and then people are faced with a choice: Are they going to face it locally, are they going to become more like our founding or are we going to become a global government? Are we going to tie ourselves even more to the rest of the world? It's only going to go one of two ways."
In his WND column, Norris said he quipped on the show, "I may run for president of Texas."
"That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state," he continued. "From the East Coast to the 'Left Coast,' America seems to be moving further and further from its founders' vision and government."
He pointed to issues that in other times would have shocked: "George Washington advised, 'The great rule of conduct in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations [and] having with them as little political connection as possible.' Yet the Obama administration just pledged $900 million … to Hamas-controlled Gaza."
Norris quoted Thomas Jefferson, "'We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.' Yet the Feds have just skyrocketed our national deficit and debt by trillions of dollars."
"How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution?" Norris wondered.
Norris said he plans to hold a "We Surround Them" viewing party to watch Beck's special program Friday. Beck has posted an online resource for people to find out where meetings are taking place in their areas.
"Many Americans, both Republican and Democrat, understand that Washington is broken. Many times it seems that the political solution is the problem. No more. Our founders knew the solution is We The People," the program's promotion says.
One viewer, Tim Wooley of Melbourne, Fla., plans to have more than 350 people attend his viewing party.
Beck said he will ask viewers Friday to decide whether they're in or out of the effort.
The one in Ft. Worth is already at capacity. They’re having a supplemental one on Saturday but I’m out of town.
I’ll be at the Bremerton Surround them on Friday the 13th.

I’ve been following this. Beck is tapping into the sentiment of the general public that was sending him pitchforks in the last few weeks of his show at CNN Headline News.
Tomorrow should be interesting.

Exactly what would that look like? State vs. State, Democrat (rabid Obama fans) vs. Republicans/Conservatives?

It’s just a matter of time before SOMETHING happens, because if we agree to these values and principles Glenn is putting forth (and I sure as heck do) IMO, I don’t think doing it politically, will make a difference. It’s gonna come to some kind of stand.

Sorry, I sorta like to listen the Beck but the only word I have for this is pathetic.
The cry’s for self-sacrifice, the appeal to supernatural beings, the community service line—all of it, exactly what we don’t need.
A sacrifice is a sacrifice, whether it is in the name of a gov’t, a God, or your neighbor—sacrifice IS NOT THE FRICKIN’ ANSWER PEOPLE!!!!
Get off the sacrifice band wagon, folks.
This is how the masses enslave themselves—it makes me think they cannot be trusted to guide themselves. That one would have to FORCE them to remain free.
Individual freedom, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

You SHOULD be asking what your country can do for you.

There is nothing wrong with “What’s in it for me?” This is natural and healthy. It’s also a concept that, to be fully understood, requires a lot of thought and a deeper understanding of human nature.
Get out of my way so that I can achieve what I want for myself and my family within a capitalist system which requires that I SERVE others to profit.

I would give my life to protect my kids—not as a “sacrifice” but because of what they MEAN TO ME—WHAT THEY DO FOR ME!!!!
I love my wife selfishly—FOR WHAT SHE BRINGS TO MY LIFE!
I would leave her tomorrow if I thought she was with me as some sort of sacrifice. I want her to be with me because of what I do for her—get it? And I would do anything for my family—SELFISHLY!!!
We have TO WANT THINGS, SELFISHLY, TO SURVIVE. How else are you going to motivate humans? We need ideals to live up to, great people to admire for SELFISH reasons.
When we make selfishness a bad thing we are trying to repress one of our most basic survival instincts and reasons for being alive.
“I WANT.” is the most beautiful idea that a human can have, don’t you get it? They are trying to control you by supressing this LIFE GIVING ENERGY. Because you might say to the power mongers: “I WANT to get the hell away from you.” “I WANT to have a say about where my paycheck goes.”
Your selfishness, is a threat to the opressors and that’s why they preach against it, period!!!!!
Look at history and just TRY to find a situation where a society built on sacrifice succeeded. Then try to find one that didn’t end in piles of corpses.
The ones who preach self-sacrifice, be it a priest, politician, or anyone, want to control you—there is no other possible explanation for it.
The closer you get to the extremes of ideology the louder the demands for your sacrifice become.
These are strange days—and getting stranger.
