A rare copy of the first Superman comic book sold for 317,200 dollars at an auction -- a super hero sized increase on the original 10 cents paid back in 1938.
Bids in the online auction, which started two weeks ago on www.comicconnect.com, immediately topped 200,000 dollars and a last-minute surge crossed the 300,000-dollar mark.
There were 89 bids and Comic Connect extended the deadline by several minutes to catch the late interest.

"Comic Connect extended the deadline by several minutes to catch the late interest."
There's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Congratulations! 70 years from now that comic book will probably be worth at least a nickel.

I don’t know if there is a lawsuit, but that is pretty crappy of them.

Not a bad investment. Funny thing: when I was kid, say, mid-70s, it was listed at $5,000, if you could find one.
Even from then, it was a good investment.

If I remember correctly, when I was about 10 tears old, my next door neighbor had a #1 Superman Comic Book. It cost him about $20 back in 1963.

Confusing headline. The comic in question is not Superman #1, but instead Action Comics #1 which had the first appearance of Superman.
