Hmmmmm... I will ponder what you’ve written here at length — thanks for that, I appreciate it. I enjoy John Paul II’s writing (he was a prolific writer) and confess that I haven’t read that book yet. I’ll see if it is at my local library.
I an readily understand and accept that contraception between unmarried couples is wrong because sex between unmarried couples is wrong. I struggle, tho’, with why it should also be wrong for committed, married couples, where there is not a desire to avoid conception entirely — just maybe not as often and not at the moment. Practise does, after all, make perfect...
Let’s not get technical... it’s just an old joke that made me laffmy nutzoff the first time I heard it
The Church supports and teachers natural family planning - it is as or more effective than the pill or any barrier method. And unlike those other methods, it requires a monogamous couple to pay more attention to each others' bodies, not less.
What I like most about being a Catholic is that you can divine the Church's teachings without reference to ancient texts or one person's speech, but instead with the simple application of reason to nature. Everything becomes so clear and simple.
“It’s in the job description.”
I would be interested in seeing that job description. And who actually wrote it?
God in three Persons, Blessed Trinity.
