Defense Department Designs 'Baby MRAP' for War in Afghanistan
Fox News ^ | April 1, 2009 | Matt Sanchez

Ask any soldier who's been to both countries: Afghanistan is not Iraq. It's a different war against a different enemy in a different country with an entirely different terrain and altitude.

One thing is the same, though. The Improvised Explosive Device — the deadly "IED" roadside bombs that blew up Humvees and the soldiers inside them along the dusty roads of Iraq — is an equally effective weapon in the rocky steeps of Afghanistan.

When the Humvee proved unable to withstand IED attacks in Iraq, the U.S. military built a new vehicle — the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) — to replace it. And like a neglected sibling, the troops in Afghanistan automatically acquired the MRAP as a hand-me-down. It's the wrong vehicle for the new war.

Instead of stimulus money, our inustries should have received contracts for military equipment. That would be REAL stimulus, all down the line, but no, we send cash to Hamas, and buy condoms and ACORN vote fraud.

Is a MRAP really mineproof? Or will it just protect the guys inside but still get damaged?

What's with the 8-bit pixelated digital camo?

Does look neat though...

The Navy is also in for some new equipment. USS OBAMA
Photobucket

Armed with a single MA-2 .50 caliber Browning, this much feared naval vessel carries up to 30 rounds of armor piercing ammunition. It is the first in an entirely new naval architecture being pushed on the Pentagon by the defense minded Obama Administration as a cost-saving measure. If you look closely, you can see the heavy-duty seat restraint which prevents the pilot/gunner – Kamakazi Kowalski – from leaping from the vessel prior to engaging the enemy. The 12 V trolling motor – which lacks a reverse function -- propels this sophisticated craft forward at a top speed of 4 knots. Reverse travel – at approximately 35 knots -- is achieved by firing the Browning.

The no-bid contract to build 200 of these fearsome warships was recently awarded to Soros Shipbuilding and Screendoor Manufacturing and will be administered by trusted Obama associate and Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel who commented that, at $12 million each, they are a bargain.
