Lack of Women Alleged as Cause of Gunfire at Lakeville Party

They arrived to party but didn't see enough girls, so they demanded their money back.

Then, the gunfire started.

An Eden Prairie teen has been charged in a shooting at a Lakeville trailer home Sunday that injured four partygoers, and two men have been charged with helping him conceal a semiautomatic pistol as they drove him away.

The shooting allegedly took place after the gunman and his friends were refused a refund on their entry fee at a house party, which they had left because of the lack of women.

The Dakota County attorney's office Wednesday charged Mohamed Yusef Hussein, 16, with four counts of second-degree assault. County Attorney James Backstrom said he filed a court motion to have Hussein certified to stand trial as an adult because of the seriousness of the crime.

Jibril Farah Mohamed, 18, of Burnsville, and Mohamud Ahmed Hassan, 19, of Minneapolis, were both charged with aiding an offender, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Hassan, who is wanted in Hennepin County in connection with a near-fatal shooting in Minneapolis in August, is being held in lieu of $1.7 million bail at the Dakota County Jail in Hastings. Charges in that case were filed Feb. 26.

Mohamed is being held in Hastings in lieu of $100,000 bail. Hussein is being held in the Juvenile Services Center in Hastings.

According to the criminal complaints, Lakeville police responded to reported gunfire on Caesar Avenue shortly after midnight Sunday. They Advertisement Quantcast found a male shot in the forearm, another shot in the thigh, a third shot in the buttock and a female who had been shot slightly below the ankle.

"They're all out of the hospital," Backstrom said. "They're non-life-threatening injuries, but obviously, this could have been deadly."

More than a dozen adults and teenagers were at the residence when police arrived, according to the charges.

Witnesses told them a group of five males arrived between 11 p.m. and midnight and paid an entrance Mohamud Ahmed Hassan fee but later asked for their money back because there were not enough women at the party.

"The residents did not want to return the money, and they asked the group to leave," reads the criminal complaint against Mohamed. "An argument ensued, after which Jibril Mohamed and his friends left the home."

Two women described going to a window to watch the men leave and seeing a man in blue jeans and a gray-hooded sweat shirt walk back toward the residence, pull out a handgun and fire. A female friend standing next to one of the witnesses was hit, according to the criminal complaint.

One witness later was able to identify Hussein from a photo lineup.

Officers documented seven bullet holes in the exterior of the home and apparent bullet holes inside. They also located seven shell casings for 9mm Luger rounds, according to the complaints.

The three men were stopped in a car registered to Mohamed's sister at 179th Street and Flagstaff Avenue and arrested. Hussein initially gave a false name and date of birth, according to the charges.

When questioned by police, the three denied any involvement in the shooting. Mohamed said he had left the party and was driving away when he received a phone call about it.

Hussein said he was a block away when he heard gunshots. Police, however, observed a fresh cut on the web of his right hand, between the thumb and forefinger, where a semiautomatic handgun would slide back during discharge.

Hassan told police he was so drunk, he stayed in the car and never went into the party. "When asked about hearing gunshots, he said that he didn't know anything about that," the complaint said.

Officers retraced the route driven by Mohamed's car and found a Ruger 9mm handgun with the serial number filed off in a grassy area of a Cub Foods parking lot.

Hussein's next court appearance is Tuesday in Hastings. The next court appearance for Mohamed and Hassan is April 27.

Hassan is wanted in Hennepin County in connection with the shooting of two men Aug. 14 in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis. The victims survived and were able to identify Hassan and three other suspects from a photo lineup, according to charges in that case.

The Hennepin County attorney's office charged him last month with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder.

“Mohamed Yusef Hussein”, “Jibril Farah Mohamed”, and “Mohamud Ahmed Hassan”.

Mormons, all.

What’s the difference between a “house party” that charges admission to men who want to meet women, and a brothel?

Your honor, I allege that criminals were the cause of the gunfire.

Seeing from the actions and the area of the Twin Cities, it looks like their names may as well be “Billy Joe” or “Donna Sue”.

As the other poster said “Islamic Rednecks; Only in Minnesota”.

AHHHHH Celebration of Multiculturalism at it's finest!

Now IF these crazies would have been taught AMERICAN culture in school since early childhood MAYBE they would not pratice a common behavior from the middle east.

Then again maybe it was a GAY???? party and they do not read or understand English enough to read the flier?

The report says they found shell casings from “9 mm Luger” rounds. Does the Luger use a special 9 mm ammo that can be identified from the spent brass? And, where would a gangbanger get a Luger? From his grandpa, the U-Boat captain?
