Beginning Monday, we welcome a name and voice familiar to many of you, deliver MORE from your favorite morning team, and say goodbye to a good friend and top-notch talk show host.
On Monday, the Grandy and Andy Morning Show will expand to 5 hours! The Grandy and Andy magic starts at 5am and won’t stop until 10am (or slightly earlier if Fred starts to choke on his daily ration of mixed nuts.) Between 5 and 9am, it’s all of the great stuff you’re accustomed to: 20 minutes of news and views commercial free at the top of every hour, opinion and analysis, lots o’ laughs, plus traffic and weather first on the 5’s. At 9am, Fred, Andy and Bryan tackle the big story of the day with plenty of your phone calls, an occasional guest and some great surprises.
We’re also pleased to welcome Joe Scarborough to 630 WMAL. The nationally syndicated Joe Scarborough Show will air between 10am-12noon. Joe is a former U.S. Congressman and current host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Mika Brzezinski, who serves as co-host on Scarborough’s morning television show, fills the same role on radio. The Joe Scarborough Show will offer thought-provoking commentary on the day’s leading issues and will feature many of the same A-list guests his television audience has come to expect.
Sadly, The Chris Plante Show has been cancelled. I will miss Chris (and I’d guess that I’m not alone.) He is passionate, smart, crafty, funny and unpredictable. I loved listening to Chris on the air and looked forward to our daily off-air strategy meetings (when Chris did the “cable” version of his show – if you know what I mean. Mark my words, Chris and his extraordinarily talented producer Geoff Holtzman will re-surface soon, I’m sure.
I’m excited that Joe and Mika will join our line-up. I’m thrilled that Grandy and Andy will keep us in stitches for 5 hours a day, but I will miss my friends Chris and Geoff.
This is terrible. He was my second favorite host behind Rush. He made my morning. I will not listen to that idiot Joe. I guess I’ll have to go back to Laura.
I just can’t believe they are doing this. Did Chris have any warning?

Geoff & Chris know that all of you wish them well. I’ve been in contact with Chris today, and he wanted me to tell all of you that all is well and that ‘he’ll be back’ soon. First and foremost, they both think about the fans. They want all fans to know that they appreciate all your well-wishes and thoughts.
Happy Birthday, anyway. A dog I was close to had to be put down around the time of my 16th.

Well...guess that means that I will have to stream Laura Ingraham and/or Glenn Beck from the 9-12 time slot now. Hope WMAL enjoys the reduction in ratings.
While I can deal with a bit of Grandy and Andy...I will NOT repeat NOT listen to Scarborough. Period.
I'd rather listen to NPR than that RINO.

That is a very difficult time slot, while I’ll enjoy Fred and Andy, Chris will be missed.

Andy Parks is on right now ranting about how it was not WMAL's fault, and that the decision was made by the parent company as a cost-cutting move. Wah!
I gave WMAL a second chance after it fired Michael Graham at the behest of CAIR and the Saudis, who then owned ABC parent-company Disney, which had later sold WMAL to Clear Channel.
Now, I say piss on WMAL. I'll listen to the Greaseman before I listen to Scarborough.

Well, to tell you the turth..I’m finished with Andy and Grandy too. This station’s management is completely clueless.
...and the next thing you know is that it will cancel Mark Levin in the evenings.
In all fairness to the station’s management — let me tell you that WMAL’s program director, Mr. Duckworth, FOUGHT HARD with the “upper echelon” (the owners of the station) in order to try to leave Chris on-air at WMAL.
I’m telling you, Guy, this was entirely a decision made from the Citadel honchos in NY — and there was nothing that Mr. D could do about it. Trust me on this one — I’ve been in communication with a variety of people about this. It sucks bigtime because of the fact that no one listens to “the little guy” [i.e. us]. Citadel is losing money in the billions of $$$ and they wanted cost-cutting changes to occur.
With Chris being a big money-maker for WMAL in the DC area, Citadel sure did slice off its nose to spite its face.
