I sure hope it was Forbes who funded this study. Without “second hand smoke”, the ‘RATS wouldn’t have their beloved S-CHIP program “for the children.” They need to just shut up and knock off the whining.

Herkimer, NY, as of Thursday -
Carton of M Red = $82
No, I did not buy it.
Of interest, the store clerk had to actually ring it up on the scannar when I asked, because she did not know the price. They arent selling at all.
Yet everone I saw go in the store was smoking.

Guess Obama will have to “spread the wealth around” quicker so their income isn't an issue anymore.
Sarcasm off.
Does it ever occur to low income people, if they smoke to NOT SMOKE if it bothers the so much? Is there something stopping low income people from asking those around them not to smoke near them? Or is politeness also an "income issue"? Liberals make me crazy!!!

Same here.
Liberalism NEVER makes sense on these issues.
It's all about helpless class envy. Of course if it involved smoking a joint, that would be okay.

You know, I was pretty much fine when you couldn't smoke in the conference room if someone asked not to smoke, and my boss not smoking in her office (particularly while I was in there) but going to the smoking room down the hall was just a bonus, really.
After that, it started getting a little crazy.
Now I work in a school and smokers have to walk across the parking lot and stand outside the gate to smoke. Even if it's raining or worse. It's Nuts.

Also, people who live in apartments and condominiums might also be exposed to secondhand smoke that drifts from one unit to another in a building.
Here in CA some cities have already banned smoking in apts or condos..

These same anti-smoking Nazi's bitch and complain about second hand smoke and how it effects them, will run home and light up a great big roach and smoke their dope without complaint one!
The socialist getting on the UN band wagon to eliminate smoking from society under the guise “second hand smoke” kills. Produce one single dead body that was killed from second hand smoke! I am not a smoker, but, certainly can see the writing on the wall in this stupid campaign, first it will be tobacco, then alcohol, and after that the sky will be the limit for these nanny state disciples who think they can play the part of a victim and force everyone else to submit to their stupid kookery. I say they can all get bent!

I’ve been making my own for two weeks now. About 18$ a carton. I make about 5 packs in an hour or so...just watching the golf or baseball game and stuff some premade tubes.
The tobacco is much fresher, no additives and I’m actually smoking less that I did before.

You wanna see nuts? From the article -
“Despite the city’s smoking restrictions, nonsmokers are still exposed to secondhand smoke on sidewalks, including near buildings, at bus stops and at subway entrances”
Now, picture this - some health nut is standing a a bust stop in NYC, briething in diesel bus exhaust, NYC air, the farts of what, 11M people, and who knows what - and he is concerned that somebody up the street might be smoking?
Cognitave dissonance. He is ignoring the alligator eating his arm, to pick at a flea.

This from the same party that will eagerly allow the murder of innocents and promote Kervorkian death for the aged and infirmed. So much for a person's "right to choose", huh? Why DUmbasses concern themselves with a "right to choose" a slow death by lung cancer while allowing murder of the unborn is beyond comprehension.
Afer all, through their support for the CULTURE OF DEATH party, they all have too much blood on their hands to worry about that which leads to the deaths of MILLIONS daily.

These JACKASS DUmocrats vote in the same murderers year after year who have participated in a genocide far worse than Hitler and his minions unleashed on the world. They should feel lucky their mothers didn't feel the same about the pieces of excrement which they brought into the world.

My Brother started raising his own at home. $1.50 for the seeds, with a growing season of 42 days to maturity. Last year in Northern Michigan he raised more than 200 plants, and all it cost him was about $10.00 dollars and his time to maintain them.

Michigan Revenue Declining; Sharpest Monthly Decline In 25 Years
Michigan residents bought fewer Michigan lottery tickets, cigarettes, clothes, restaurant meals and household goods, as they saw the stock market plummet and the economic outlook darken.
The sharp pullback in consumer spending sent sales tax receipts downward 18 percent in February, or more than $100 million. It will force Gov. Jennifer Granholm and lawmakers to cut the budget more, agree on tax increases or use more of the federal economic stimulus money to balance the state's books.
It was the steepest monthly decline in 25 years.
Overall revenue declines total $200 million from forecasts made just seven weeks ago.
Since income tax receipts from paycheck withholding were pretty flat in February, economists say concerned consumers may be putting away their credit cards and spending less.
“The big reason revenues are tanking is that consumers are negative and they're saving their money,” Senate Fiscal Agency economist David Zin said Wednesday. “We thought consumers would ratchet up the savings and they've done so even more than we thought.”
Also down were tax receipts on specific forms of discretionary spending, according to the agency's new revenue report. Tobacco tax receipts were down 6.7 percent and casino wagering taxes were down 7 percent. Michigan Lottery ticket sales dropped nearly 19 percent. One factor that explains some of the decline from a year ago was that February 2008 provided a 29th day of sales.
Tax collections from the sale of real estate are down 42 percent from a year ago. While the focus of the state's economic woe is the auto sector, sales tax receipts from car sales actually climbed 15 percent last month.

That's interesting. I'm not a smoker, and don't like the smoke but I do like freedom...and I recalled a few years ago someone was giving out packets of tobacco seeds at the Maine LP convention, so with the recent hikes I thought, smokers can raise their own. I did a few minutes of research, and found that
raising tobacco is not difficult, but
curing it is a big deal. A place to start,

You only need to “cure” tobacco if you use a pesticide to grow it. All my Brother did was hang it up until it was almost dry and then he wraps it on a thin board about four inches wide, and leaves them that way until they finish drying. Then he stacks them after he removes the board, this is called a “brick” and then he cuts the tobacco anyway you want to. He said it was some of the finest tobacco he has ever smoked and 100% natural.

We like a victory cigar sometimes after an operation. You can bet, I won't be buying any more of them, since the money will go to the government socialist who come to rely on the tobacco income, using it to balance their budgets and then complain about second hand smoke killing everyone! Damn hypocrites, all of them!

It was huge fun - I played Stratego with the kids, shot some beers with them (old bulging cans that had frozen in the cabin, we shot them with .22 hollow points, makes a great splash...), played some poker, and peed on a lock.
The lock to our barway was frozen when we got up on the mountain, and all the hot coffee was gone...
LOL.
