“are you related to barak? “

Are you a complete idiot? Never mind the answer is obvious.

“...adding the incident warrants investigation as “an opportunity for learning.”

From what the article said, it sounds like the paramedics did the right and best thing for the dog and owner. Any “investigation” should be for teaching other paramedics on “what to do in case...” in my opinion. Surely, they wouldn’t punish the paramedics in this case.

I find the idea that animals have no souls, theologically immature and lacking. The evidence found in scripture overwhelmingly supports that animals do indeed have souls, much like people.
I say "much like" because there is a distinct difference. Animals are innocent creatures that are not in need of reconciliation and regeneration. Nevertheless, with this one exception, their souls are very similar to, if not exactly like our own.
The problem is...some people do not possess souls.

So Jesus died for animals too? Please provide a source.

I agree.

Paramedics in Canada and in the U.S. have "medical control", that is a physician, under whose authority and license they practice. They function as "extensions" of the ER doctor who can't be everywhere, but who still has ultimate responsibility.

I hope they kept their hospital in the loop as well as consulting the veterinarian. The controls placed on narcotics, as you might imagine, carried by ambulance personnel are very tight and require bullet-proof paperwork for audit purposes. Yes a careful review of this incident sounds entirely proper and appropriate. Procedures and protocols don't anticipate every possibility nor should they.

According to the Bible, animals have souls. Texts such as Genesis 1:21,24 are often mistranslated to read "living creatures." The exact Hebrew used in reference to animals throughout the Bible is "nephesh chayah," or "living soul." This is how the phrase has been translated in Genesis 2:7 and in four hundred other places in the Old Testament. Thus, Genesis 1:30 should more accurately read: "And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is a living soul, I have given every green herb for meat."

Not one of them is worth the life of a person.

Right?

And my later post said there were degenerates that were the exception.

When will you cry for the thousands of perfectly healthy animals killed every year by the HUMANE Society and by PETA? You don’t because they do it quietly in the back room.

So go away.

“According to the Bible, animals have souls.”

According to the Bible heresy is a sin.

This is a good explanation of why animals have life but do not have eternal souls. The example you used refers to life and not the eternal soul.

http://www.biblequestions.org/Archives/BQAR351.htm

Question: Do animals have a soul?

Answer: As a rule, the complete question involves concern about animals, especially pets, being in heaven.

The original creation. When we visit the original creation, we discover a number of truths. One apparent truth is the uniqueness of man compared to the lower animal creation. Only to man was it said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….” (Gen. 1: 26). Animals are next mentioned in the verse, but from the standpoint of their subservience to man.

The fate of man and animals. The wise man had much to say regarding man, his birth, life, and destiny. He wrote, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it” (Eccl. 12: 7). Earlier, he wrote regarding man and the beast: “Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?” (Eccl. 3: 21.) This question is clearly answered in the above noted chapter twelve, verse seven.

Animals have a soul in the sense that they possess life. A common Hebrew word translated life (soul) is nephesh. Nephesh is used for the life or breath of both animals and man (Gen. 1: 20, 30; 19: 17). Life is that state that is the opposite of death. It is a state of animation, breathing, and awareness. Men and animals alike possess a soul in the sense of breath (nephesh). However, in the sense of possessing a part or element that lives forever, as man possesses, animals do not possess an eternal spirit (cp. Matt. 25: 46). The animal simply and totally returns to the dust, the spirit of man continues to exist (Eccl. 3: 21, cp. 12: 7).

The fact that animals do not possess an eternal soul in the sense that man does, does not de-emphasize their value as companions to man. Pets can and do become an important part in the lives of millions. Also, in man’s charge over the animal kingdom, it behooves man to protect and not abuse the animals (Gen. 1: 26-28).

I didn't claim my theory was 100% accurate yet it is MY belief animals have a soul more so then some humans.
After all, this is planet Earth NOT planet Perfect.
I do wish you and your family a wonderful Easter and I appreciate the debate.

Same to you and we can agree some humans appear to have sold their soul.

We had a Police dog shot here in Pittsburgh. They tranported it lights and siren in a paramedic supervisor truck to the vet.
Police dogs are officers of the law.

BTW, what did Jesus do for the least among us?

that has little to do with our assertion that not one dog's life is worth more than a human and I noted the obvious exceptions..Manson, Bundy, Bin Laden etc

and by the way, it didn't come up at the Easter Service I just attended at Woodmont Baptist here in Nashville with my wife and 5 children but next time I see Doctor Roebuck I'll ask.

Thanks.

Would you sacrifice your kids life because someone was rushing their fatally injured dog to the vet? That was the question on the table.

You’re being obtuse.

No such scarifice was asked nor given in this case.

Your next querie will be what if the ambulance hit a minivan full of kids.

One could make that same argument is a 70 year old geezer like I am not far from being worth saving having an MI over a soccer mom and her kids should the ambulance hit them.

Not really probably, he’s already lived his life though his family might take umbrage with that notion.

I don’t think these folks trying to help rises to such equivocations and absolutes you’re reaching for.

But you’re entitled to that view.

“You’re being obtuse.”

No, I’m being quite clear. I think it was inappropriate for these paramedics to take the dog to the vet with sirens blaring. Doing so places those on the road at a greater risk.

I’m also quite clear in that dogs don’t have souls, the eternal kind, ya know the one that Jesus died for and rose again this very day roughly 2000 years ago.

People have souls. Saying animals do not have eternal souls does not degrade them nor is it cause for the insults and personal attacks made in this thread.

And you still haven’t responded to my question about the tens of thousands of animals destroyed by the animal groups each and every year. Where is your outrage for this treatment? EVERY single day perfectly healthy and good tempered animals are destroyed and their bodies tossed in the trash.

So spare me your ignorant personal attacks. Spare me your use of human monsters to attack me and then denying a similar comparison from me.
