Gwyneth discusses the perils of 'frenemies' in the latest newsletter for her website GOOP - but who exactly is she talking about?
She writes, "Back in the day, I had a "frenemy" who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down. This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road. But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my reaction was deep relief and...happiness.
Speculation is rife that the woman in question is none other than actress Winona Ryder. The pair haven't spoken in years, and rumor has it they fell out after Gwyneth stole the script of Shakespeare in Love from Winona's coffee table and then went on to win the part.
Ryder was then arrested in 2001 for shoplifting from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, which could be the "something unfortunate and humiliating" that Gwyneth refers to.
With friends like that, who needs enemies?

My day just isn’t complete without knowing how Gwyneth and Winona are doing.
“Roommates”?
So that’s what they call it.
dumb and dumber
Cat Fight!
My goodness, Winona certainly is beautiful and shapely compared to platter-faced, stick-built Gwyneth. Good actress, too, in the parts I’ve seen - it’s a shame she went ‘round the bend.
Gwyneth was the ugly duckling for sure until she started the plastic surgery!
And now she looks like an alien. Oh, well.
Her daughter Apple should be happy that she wasn’t named Goop.
You obviously never saw "Alien:Resurrection". Wow.....that was a bad movie.
that is the perfect name for her blog!
No, I never did.
I thought Winona was great in Mr. Deeds, and Gwyneth did a nice job in Shallow Hal. Don’t know much about Winona, and I know Gwyneth is a moron, but they’re both pretty good actresses.
This can’t be true, because I’ve been told repeatedly from very reliable sources that La Paltrow is absolute perfection from every angle.
But it did have its moments... There were a number of "Joss-ism" in the dialog here and there. But Joss Wheedon didn't have a whole lot to work with...

I guess the story about Gwyneth stealing the Shakespeare in Love scipt from Winona’s table are true, since they still hold a grudge
I saw on E! once a report that Gwynnie had stolen a script from Winnie’s kitchen table one day and it tunred out to be the script from that Shakespeare movie that Gwynnie eventually won a Best Actress Oscar for, so I’m sure that Winona is none too pleased with her former friend.
