I've heard that Joseph Pulitzer is the old lefty who came up with the phrase "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." So it makes sense that his prizes always go to lefties.

Absolutely no surprises, btw. NY Slimes wins a bunch of awards.

“Ruined” by Lynn Nottage is the 2nd straight drama to win that was first performed at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. Hooray for my hometown!

It’s about the ‘chaos of the civil war in the Congo’.

Lefty’s slapping Lefty’s on the back (another metaphor is more appropriate but not ‘family oriented’) - as inconsequential as the Oscars, Emmy’s, et. al. and the pure trash and lies they perpetrate.

I thought Pulitzer Prizes in letters was for works on American subjects?

Ick. David Barstow (NYT) wins for ingestigative reporting. His citation:

Awarded to David Barstow of The New York Times for his tenacious reporting that revealed how some retired generals, working as radio and television analysts, had been co-opted by the Pentagon to make its case for the war in Iraq, and how many of them also had undisclosed ties to companies that benefited from policies they defended.

Absolutely no surprises, btw.

Apparently, some guy scribbled "Bush Sucks" on a bathroom wall in Toledo. I am suprised that he was only awarded an Honorable Mention. So, a small suprise.

I must hang with the wrong crowd..... or perhaps you do. I agree they are all over MSM at the time but not many remember specifics after the fact. I think it a bit funny and odd that people like O'Reily make a big thing of it. He still wants to be loved by the Left, I suppose.

Oh barf. Here's the "Commentary" winner's citation:

Awarded to Eugene Robinson of The Washington Post for his eloquent columns on the 2008 presidential campaign that focus on the election of the first African-American president, showcasing graceful writing and grasp of the larger historic picture.

Obama may not have ancestors who were slaves in America or share the traditional African-American experience, but I guess being in favor of abortion and homosexuality gives him an "in." I guess that makes Robert Mugabe an "Uncle Tom."

When someone dies the term ‘Oscar winner’ is always in the Obit if it applies even if its 40 years after the fact. Films that win almost always experience a box office bump. However, if you regard cinema as trivial to begin with that’s different.

And for "Feature Photography":

Awarded to Damon Winter of The New York Times for his memorable array of pictures deftly capturing multiple facets of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.

Well, of course. There's still a lot of liberals around ;-) and people that want to be 'in'. Lol. Like that communist book that Chavez gave to Obama went to a top seller on Amazon. That guy will probably get an award now. It means nothing to me and to a whole lot of people who don't want to contribute one cent toward any of their 'causes'.

However, if you regard cinema as trivial to begin with that’s different.

Propaganda isn't trivial, but it's still propaganda, and should be acknowledged for what it is. I'll even say that as propaganda goes, sometimes it is well done and perhaps that's the standard that is used in the award shows by the fellow travelers that vote.

They used to be pretty prestigious, back in the days of Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. They're nothing but left wing bloviating now.
