Lance Armstrong: Why Sheryl and I Split
The New York Post ^ | 5-8-09

Posted on 05/08/2009 1:22:30 PM PDT by Justaham

LANCE Armstrong is blaming the constant tick, tick, ticking of Sheryl Crow's biological clock as the key factor in their break-up three years ago.

In "Lance," out in July from Da Capo, the Tour de France legend tells author John Wilcockson that after he and the sexy rocker were engaged in 2005, two weeks before her 44th birthday, their relationship became "kind of a struggle."

"She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids [Luke, Grace and Bella]," Armstrong, 37, reveals. "Yet we're up against her biological clock -- that pressure is what cracked it."

Perhaps she should’ve focused on nesting a family before she reached middle age.

She should have heard that ticking before she turned 44. That clock has about tocked.

Seriously, this is the mess women’s-lib has gotten too many women into. Put off having children until you’ve had your career. They never mention it is much more difficult to have a child in your 40s (or 30s for that matter) than it is in your 20s. A lot of women that wanted children never were able to have them because they followed the feminist forumla of having a career first, then children.

Gasp! Are you crazed? If women focus on families, where will America get fighter pilots? What will become of the nanny industry?? You need to rethink this, If God wanted women to focus on their children before middle age.....well, he would have...... Oh, nevermind.

I don't agree with Sheryl's politics but I admire her talent.

I think she got the raw end of this deal....why did he get engaged if marriage wasn't the end result? From all the "stars" Lance has been out with, I think he thinks he's God's gift to women.

Poor naive Cheryl Crow? The babe in the woods, oh please!!
She rose to the top in that mean entertainment industry culture. She was playing him as much as he did her. If she had an ounce of morals, she would be married today. I bet she’s *surrounded* by lots of nice blue collar guys who would be solid, long term and loyal, just what women say they want. They work the sound boards, the audio equipment, they drive the trucks, they negotiate the contracts with promoters and do 1000 mundane jobs all around her.
They are invisible to her, she only wants a star at least at her level. Typical.

However, given your frightening screen name, maybe i should just agree with you! (gulp)

Something to note about this story. It shows the great value of an ENGAGEMENT PERIOD! This is the 'last chance' for these kind of difficulties to get hashed out before the lawyers start really making money! I cannot help but wondering if someone has ever developed an optimal time-length for engagements based upon marriage duration?

In short this was a successful engagement.

Quite possibly the dumbest post I've ever read on FR.

I bet she’s *surrounded* by lots of nice blue collar guys who would be solid, long term and loyal, just what women say they want.

Lol. Can you paint these women you speak of with a more broader brush.

You sir, no nothing about women.

Yours was the best post of the thread. You are absolutely correct. They weren’t a good fit and it’s a good thing for both that they figured it out before the wedding. Unfortunately it is not an uncommon problem in today’s world. At least they were both up front about their wishes. A lot of people aren’t and it’s the children who suffer.

I don’t know though, you get involved with a woman who you KNOW wants children and family, “I just had one of those” doesn’t quite cut it.

“They are invisible to her, she only wants a star at least at her level.”

A huge thing with women in entertainment. They want the millionaire/billionaire tycoon or someone at their celebrity level.

The catch-22 comes when the tycoons don’t want someone who has showed off everything to the world and the celebrity men don’t want someone who will outshine them.
