An Australian kangaroo shot through the head with an arrow is expected to make a full recovery, wildlife officers say.
The injured kangaroo was found on Thursday in parklands near Melbourne's outer suburb, where it is believed to have survived for up to a week.
Melbourne Zoo vet Michael Lynch says he will monitor the kangaroo for the next three weeks but remains optimistic. Wildlife Victoria has posted a Aus$10,000 ( US$7,600, £5,000) reward to find the person responsible.
Wildlife Victoria spokeswoman Fiona Corke, said the kangaroo was rescued just days after another kangaroo was found with an arrow in its rump in the same area. "It's just unbelievable, I can't believe that anyone would do something so cruel," she said.
The incident comes at a time when the Australian army is culling 6,000 kangaroos near the capital, Canberra - a move which has outraged conservationists.

I’ve never even seen this in a Warner Brother’s cartoon.

ANON
I was going to make a “Steve Martin” joke, but then I saw the picture. Poor little thing!!!
‘Roos would be a valuable and cheap protein source were it not for the Skippy-worshippers Down Under.
They also can be dangerous, as is apparent.
Poor little guy.

Yum! Does ‘roo have to be smothered or braised like other game meat? All that hopping might toughen it a bit in the shanks.
How about processing it into ‘rooburger? That works with venison when nothing else will.
Yes, I know there’s a market for ‘roo meat in Australia. And the opposition is just as nutty there as here.
Now if there were just something similar that could be done about the Muslim Presence in Down Under.....
(see Monty Python sketch about cannibalism)
;^)

There is no broadhead on that arrow, IE a practice arrow. That is disgusting. Some Assh@le with a bow. Find him and throw his sadistic butt in jail......
