Don't try this at home. Several times a day, for several days, you induce pain in someone. You control the pain with morphine until the final day of the experiment, when you replace the morphine with saline solution. Guess what? The saline takes the pain away.

You can solve the horizon problem by having the universe expand ultra-fast for a time, just after the big bang, blowing up by a factor of 10^50 in 10^(-33) seconds. But wait ... Then the speed of light wouldn't be constant and the Earth wouldn't be 14 Billion years old ... Then we would have to come up with new models ... and then we would have to admit we were wrong on several fronts ... So that can't be right. I'm mean, We're Scientists! Next!

FOUR years ago, a particle accelerator in France detected six particles that should not exist (see Ghost in the atom). They are called tetraneutrons: four neutrons that are bound together in a way that defies the laws of physics. And 100 years ago the atom was the smallest thing in the universe until it broke open and all this tiny crap came flying out. Why should think that the scientists are fully correct now? They were not correct then and they won't be correct in 50 years. What else is new?

You control the pain with morphine until the final day of the experiment, when you replace the morphine with saline solution. Guess what? The saline takes the pain away. Placebo effect. Good in about 65% of cases. Many drugs tested don't meet the same level of effectiveness.
Nothing new.

Hmmm - didn’t know there was a rock band called the Smithereens .... me born in 1985 wouldn’t know that ... but my brothers, scientists all when we were growing up would blow things to smithereens ....

You mean that awful 80's new wave punk band Hardly. They're straight up rock. One of the best live bands out there, still active after 28 years, collaborating with acts like Graham Parker and The Kinks.

You're not as smart as you think you are.

You're not as smart as you think you are. It would have to take 10^-33 seconds if the speed of light wasn't constant. You have to have a new unknown theory to have a constant speed of light. Part of the assumption for the need for 'Inflation' is that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. If that assumption isn't required then the theory of 'Inflation' isn't needed.
It looks like either you don't read or that you aren't as smart as you think you are. By your antagonistic post, I'm guessing the latter.

“didn’t know there was a rock band called the Smithereens...me born in 1985...”
You should check out some of the old stuff. My daughters (also born in the 80’s) played some of my old vinyl and were pretty impressed. They even made me a couple of CD’s of my 70’s favorites. By the way, thanks a hell of a lot for making me feel kinda old. :(

Nope, the atom isn't the smallest thing ... it's the smitherene Yep, I remember as a child things were always being blown to "smitherenes", so I believe you are correct. The Smitherene must be the smallest unit of matter to exist!

At least you’re right about the Earth not being 14 billion years old. Nobody says that, including the scientists you despise.

A friend of my dad gave him several boxes of old 45’s from a jukebox that sat in an old tavern that was being torn down. There were some original Beetles, Gene Vincent, Elvis ... must have been a hundred of them We spent all day washing and playing them ... BTW, sorry about the feeling old thing, wasn’t my intent ...

Don’t be sorry - it was an ill attempt at humor. I actually don’t feel any different now than when I was 20. I’m training to do a 14000’ in Colorado this year, plan on skydiving with my 21 year old daughter this summer, and should have my private pilots certificate before my first grandchild is due in Nov. - “Old” Jubal is a long way from the rocking chair, even if he doesn’t look like it! ( OK, I feel a little old after my training for the mountain climb.)—JM

Hey Great! I was talked into a skydive - great fun!!! Don’t worry, I like the oldies - can’t stand what’s playing, what they call music. Yuk! We have a DVD of a put together thing of Elvis and his band - shows Elvis in his last concert with the band as it’s today ... I think it’s called “Elvis Live from Memphis” ....
