Hugh Hewitt Endorses RINO: Sacrificing Principles for a Win?
American Daily Review ^ | May 15 2009 | Rosanna Pulido

Posted on 05/15/2009 7:18:50 AM PDT by chicagolady

Wednesday evening in the Chicagoland area Conservatives attended and event they thought would be an entertaining and informative. Three popular Conservative nationally recognized Talk show hosts were taking questions about Obama’s “First Hundred Days” in office. The Salem Broadcasting Corporation has been hosting a 12-city national tour.

What they got was a shameless promotion of an Illinois RINO candidate courtesy of Hugh Hewitt.

We’ll give Mr. Hewitt a break, maybe he was auditioning to be Mitt Romney’s spokes person for “National Council for a New America.” Hugh officially anointed Congressman Mark Kirk (R-IL) as the best candidate for the Illinois Senate Primary.

Thanks Hugh, why don’t you let the folks in Illinois decide if they want yet another “Republican in Name Only” in office, who has the same exact agenda as Democratic Senator Roland Burris has.

Mark Kirk supports the unconstitutional “hate-crime” legislation. Mark also intends to disarmlaw abiding Americans. In fact here are some of KIRK’S record on other key issues.

In 2005, “Citizens for Global Solutions” gave Representative Kirk a rating of “A.”

In 2006, the National Rifle Association assigned Representative Kirk a grade of “F.”

Based on information available in 2006, Sierra Club chose to endorse Representative Kirk.

Based on information available in 2006, Planned Parenthood chose to endorse Representative Kirk.

Representative Kirk voted their preferred position of Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence 100% in 2002.

Representative Kirk supported the interests of the NARAL 100% in 2005.

Representative Kirk supported the interests of the National Council of La Raza 100% in 2004.

And lastly Mark Kirk a veteran himself, has a problem with honoring and supporting our Veterans.

Illinois' Troops & Veterans Deserve Better Than Mark Kirk

If your grand-kids are barely older than 19-20, then I'm certainly older than them. I've been a registered voter for over a decade.

Clearly there's no talking to you if you're going to argue the kind of garbage Kirk votes for is "moderate" and he "needs" to take those positions to "win" over middle of the road voters. Middle of the road voters think 13 year old girls should be allowed to cross state lines and get an abortion without mommy and daddy knowing, eh? Funny, I've never meet ANYONE who agrees with that except flaming far-left nuts like Mark Kirk.

If you actually believe that about Kirk's record, you're either incredibly foolish or senile.

Yeah they're on their own little planet. One time I had one of the Arnold Schwarzenegger supporters claim I was on "Cruz Busatamente's payroll" because I wouldn't support Arnie, so he gave me a laundry list of all the things we'd get if Bustamente was elected... EVERY single item he listed was something Arnold ALSO supported!

Apparently they "vote RINO" crowd is only against that agenda when the person implementing it has a "D" next to their name!

It's now been about 20 hours since I asked the Mark Kirk supporters here to tell us on what issues Kirk is "far to the right" of Lisa Madigan. I still haven't gotten a response, and the meantime I've listed a dozen issues showing where Kirk is just as liberal as Madigan!

They don't seem to keen on the idea of backing up their claims with facts, do they?

Virtually your entire description of the event was wrong. Fitzgerald was a Conservative, respected by Conservatives, opposed by the corrupt and bipartisan IL Combine, the real enemy of reformers. He was their enemy by having defeated their annointed “R” choice in ‘98, the liberal RINO Combiner Comptroller Loleta Didrickson, and they were quite happy to sabotage him to keep Combiner crook Carol Mostly-Fraud in office. He was attacked from day #1 in the Senate, and the lead thug/enforcer for the Combine trying to take him down was the RINO Congressman LaHood, for whom the False Messiah rewarded with a Cabinet post for his success at forcing Fitzgerald from office and paving the way to the White House.

For you to not even mention the Combine when discussing Sen. Fitzgerald shows you don’t know anything about the political situation in IL at all. Others in this thread are well aware of it and called you on it.

Look, lady....I do NOT support Mod. Republicans but I DETEST LIBERAL DEMOCRATS and anything that keeps a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT PRO_DEATH politician from getting elected, I'm all for!!!!

I hope that Kirk will run for the U.S. Senate and lose the primary to a conservative. Jon Zahm said that Eric Wallace will probably run for the U.S. Senate.

>> anything that keeps a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT PRO_DEATH politician from getting elected, I'm all for!!!! <<

So you're for electing a LIBERAL REPUBLICAN PRO-DEATH politician who is even more rabidly pro-abortion than the DEMOCRAT he defeated, Ann Archy?

Mark Kirk is to the LEFT of even Lisa Madigan on abortion, as I've previously documented on this thread. You can't get anymore pro-death than Mark Kirk, unless the Dems somehow recruit an abortion doctor to run against him.

“I do NOT support Mod. Republicans but I DETEST LIBERAL DEMOCRATS and anything that keeps a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT PRO_DEATH politician from getting elected, I’m all for!!!!”

No, I’d rather have neither but I’d take a moderate Republican.

Thing is Kirk is a liberal Republican, not a moderate. He’s the second biggest RINO in the US house imo.

And abortion? This is big issue for you? Kirk is 100% pro-abortion, pro taxpayer funded abortion pro-partial birth abortion (only a few other RINOs are that bad),.

If he’s our nominee it’s basically a democrat primary in the general election. In that instance I’d vote for Kirk over the corrupt moonbat slime but I’ll be voting for a Republican in the Republican primary, not Kirk.

I missed that you think Fitzgerald was disliked by conservatives and sure to lose.

The first point is absolutely false. He was opposed by the corrupt party machines of both parties (combine). They want some one who’ll go along with them. Not to say the GOP members of the combine would prefer a prefer a democrat to a Republican but if a Republican is anti-corruption they try to help the democrats take him out.

Look a Ray LaHood, moderate voting record to the left of Fitzgerald and a combiner, he led the charge in trying to find a primary challenger to Fitzgerald (the late sun times liberal columnist Steve Neal writes again and again that Republicans should replace Fitzgerald) this eventually leads to Obama winning. Obama puts him in the cabinet, yeah just a coinky-dink in the quid pro quo world of Illinois politics.

Jack Ryan wins the GOP primary and they obviously decided they didn’t like him much either cause they offered no support when he was caught having sex with his wife.

Then they install Alan Keyes, a man from another state they knew couldn’t come close to winning, insuring the victory for machine-compliant democrat BH Obama.

Fitzgerald was not a sure bet to beat Obama but he certainly could have if his own party didn’t stab him in the back, and spared us this Presidency. LaHood’s appointment was a thank you from Obama.

We aren’t talking about RINO versus RINO or RINO versus Conservative....I would be for the Conservative EVERY DAY....we are talking about RINO versus DEMOCRAT who are ALL PRO-DEATH...and wrong on the war, etc.

If Mark Kirk ever gets elected to anything by any constituency, it will be without my vote. Kirk would not only continue to materially support abortion (among many other evil things), he would be yet another Olympia Snowe, another Susan Collins, another Ahhhhhnold Schwarzenkennedy in muddying the image of the GOP. He would be a step (and a major one) in the wrong direction. He can join the trip to you know where with Fr. Jenkins and Barack Insane Obama.

We are talking about Liberal Democrat vs. Equally Liberal Republican. My post #34 (ignored by the Mark Kirk apologists on this thread, but repeatedly pointed out by those of us who know the guy's record) proves that — on every MAJOR issue (war on terror, abortion, guns, spending, envirowackoism, etc.), Kirk's positions are just bad as the Democrat.

Kirk is so far left on abortion that I make a pretty solid case he's even WORSE than pro-death liberal Democrat Lisa Madigan. She supports requiring parental notification for minors seeking an abortion (although not parental consent), he doesn't.

Sources here:

There's nothing remotely “moderate” about Kirk. I find it very disturbing when he takes swipes at Obama and Madigan for not being liberal enough.

NC1984: The "other Fitzgerald," the New York Democrat Patrick Fitzgerald (actually New Jersey IIRC) is also the one who is prosecuting Blagojevich (effectively forcing his impeachment and conviction and removal from office, jailed Lyin' George Ryan, convicted Tony Rejzko (sp.?) and has the leadership of the Illinois Demonrat and RINO parties experiencing perpetual sleeplessness.

Former US Senator Peter Fitzgerald was generally conservative not libertarian. He had a weakness for environmentalism but otherwise, a solid guy. That the imbeciles and Demonrats who run the Illinois RINO Party were successful in driving Fitzgerald from his Senate seat calls for absolute scorched earth in the Illinois GOP until the McKennas, Bradys, Thompsons, Edgars, and lot lizard Topinkas are no more.

If Patrick Fitzgerald is a social conservative, I would gladly see him nominated and elected governor on any ticket to continue his admirable job of seeing to the jailing of Illinois's worst. Is Richard the Runt (he's not the man his father was) Daley next to be indicted? How about Barack Insane (for his dealings with convict Tony Rejzco?

Ann Archy: If a "moderate" Republican is elected, WE are not in power. Obama may well turn out to be Carter II. Ordinarily, I thoroughly agree with your usually quite sensible and principled posts but not on this one.

One may have to actually live in Illinois to appreciate how corript the crooks are who run the Illinois RINO Party (aka the R part of the Combine). Or one would have to have the general insight of fieldmarshaldj who lives in Tennessee but has a sure grasp on what constitutes unacceptable RINOISM.

Also, a "moderate" Republican is nothing but a cross-dressing Demonrat in drag and nothing resembling actual moderation.

i think the Pulido organization is well-positioned to support the conservative alternative to Krk.

i doubt Krk could carry the 5th in a primary. What is the deal on these 2 fellas?
