I love Dick Cheney. May he never stop talking. And may Liz become a conservative leader, even our own Maggie.

Oh, and:

And yet he remains one of the most visible, attacking the new president on waterboarding (Cheney's for it); the camp at Guant‡namo (he's for keeping it open); and the sanctioning of lawyers who wrote memos enabling the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" (he's for thanking, not prosecuting them).

Except that now O has discovered that Bush's policies were not only right, but without any viable alternatives.

I didn’t do well in latin in the 7th grade. It kinda put me off languages for a bit. Of course, I understood the “est.” I understood the negative import of the phrase but the exact translation was gone.

I had not made the connection with Punic Wars. Thank you.

I agree with the sentiment and in fact am working every day of my life to help that happen.

I see the weekly DNC talking points have finally made their way into Mr. Fineman's overstuffed mailbox. That's a relief, because I would be sorely disappointed if even a single liberal pundit failed this week to advance the argument that Dick Cheney is awful, terrible, bad Bad BAD for the Republicans! So bad, in fact that GOP'ers are themselves deeply ashamed and cringing at his every word!!!

Funny though: every Republican that I've spoken with or heard tell (with the exception of the Washington RINOcracy) have been gleeful and ecstatic that finally, someone in our deeply depressed party is willing to stand up for the very same principles and ideas that motivated the greatest President of our lifetimes: Ronald Wilson Reagan.

The truth is, Dick Cheney is Viagra for Republicans; a figure at whom our soft noodles in Washington seethe not with anger, but jealousy. He is also an adult presently in the company of children at a time when father figures are routinely belittled but never more desperately needed.

Rush repeated “Cheney gets results” a bunch, making my day.
Cheney is just getting it done, the leftists see the narrative completely arcing out of their control, and are desperate to change the subject.

Cheney’s relentless seriousness is a stark contrast to the current regime. Are there any adults in the room, is the question.

A nice counter to this, a piece by Bill Kristol in the weekly standard.

I agree with your comment and I’m far from the perfect man, ha, ha, ha, and my preference remains faithful to one man, one woman. The vitriol against the former VP is leveled because he keeps the light of truth shining on the incompetent, nincompoops that make up the present administration on both sides of the aisle. On the Dim side the lack or weakness of ideas/intellect is obvious, on the Rep side it’s silent. Stay in the fight Honorable Dick Cheney, and Liz Cheney. It was accurate to see and compare him as an American Churchill. More Americans need to wake up and begin to speak, and perhaps fight for our Republic.

And there precisely is the problem with some in the GOP. They are soooo wrong.

There, fixed it for you.

If conservatives would stand up to the moderates in the GOP like Cheney is standing up to Obama, we could drive them out of the party.
