WASHINGTON - One out of every four ballots requested by military personnel and other Americans living overseas for the 2008 election may have gone uncounted, according to findings released at a Senate hearing. Sen. Charles Schumer, chairman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, said the study released Wednesday, while providing only a snapshot of voting patterns, "is enough to show that the balloting process for service members is clearly in need of an overhaul." The committee, working with the Congressional Research Service, surveyed election offices in seven states with high numbers of military personnel: California, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and West Virginia.

This is ridiculous!! Do you think so Schumer? Do you think our troops know how to vote? The democrats are a discrace to anyone in uniform! We all know the most likely cause is whack left operatives losing them!

Most of the time when I was scheduled overseas our votes didn’t get counted. A lot of times it was because the “voting officer” didn’t get the absentee ballots from the states. Sometimes it was because they were submitted too late. It really chapped my butt that this was such a low priority.

If this had happened in an inner city, the left would be screaming mad about disenfranchisement. If it’s the military, they couldn’t care less.

Obama won NC by a RAZOR THIN margin. I am convinced that the military votes went uncounted on purpose.

I was told “Nothing is too good for the military” and with the democrats the Military get more and more of Nothing each time there is an election. This is good evidence of it.

With the military capabilities for secure, global communications, I see know reason why our deployed soldiers should not be able to vote electronically from overseas.

Schumer wants it fixed all right. 25% uncounted is just too darn few.

The deliberate (and successful) sabotage of overseas military votes by the Dems from 2000 to the present is final proof that the US is officially a banana republic.

When ACORN gets done fixing the census and 12 million illegal Mexicans are given voting rights, you can forget any possibility of non-Dem candidates getting elected to major offices. 2008 was the last chance for the Republican Party, and they pissed it away [deliberately?]. There is absolutely no way they are going to overcome (a minimum of) 5% voter fraud in 2010. And double that in 2012.

You can make book on it.

Insult to injury, the RNC is going to be running more RINOs, not fewer.

No question about it.

I was in Florida during the 2000 election. The number of uncounted military ballots was almost beyond belief. On the west coast Dem lawyers went to court to block counting of military votes. Didn't even try to hide what they were doing.

The number of military votes left out was in the thousands. More than enough to kill Gore's "recount" shenanigans.

With ACORN and Obama running things in 2010, Florida's 2000 fraud will be insignificant in comparison. Face the facts, we are not going to win any more elections, folks. 2008 was the tipping point.

BINGO. Lots of states besides NC were won on razor thin margins. Indiana is another one. This is proof Obama did not win legitimately -- he is a fraudulent President (in more ways than one).

However with that said, I am absolutely furious that Americans serving overseas either with the military or in foreign service do not get their votes counted. Talk about disenfranchisement!

I’d like to make a radical suggestion...which some folks won’t like. The minute you enlist into the military...you resign your state status and get exempted from any state tax or any state driver’s license issue. You are get exempted from the census count.

We issue you a federal driver’s license good for as long as you are active duty. We also create a representative who will represent all active duty members in the military...who will be in a one-year status (can only in this position for twelve months maximum), and it will alternate between republicans and democrats as each year comes and goes. The party will pick their individual. As for you dependents...if they want to be federally exempted as well during this period...they merely register.

So we basically take away all the voting troubles and just give a permanent rep to the members of the military. We also dump all their state tax issues as well. If the states don’t want to work on fixing the issue...we will fix it for them.

In 2006 a couple of Senate races were extremely close, in Virginia and Montana, and were won by the Democrats--it could be that uncounted military votes tipped control of the Senate to the Democrats for the last two years of Bush's presidency.

I think it was in 2004 in Ohio that the Democrats played games with whether to allow Ralph Nader on the ballot in order to delay the final version of the ballot, so that military personnel overseas would have a hard time getting the ballot in time to cast a vote.

Yes, this is unacceptable. For that matter - those who are serving our country deserve more than just their vote to be counted. But we certainly can’t count on the likes of Schumer, Pelosi, Reid, et-al to give a rat’s butt about them.

So is it time to demand a recount?
I am appalled by this.

The very men and women who make sure that we have the right to vote are not being counted.

DAMN these political hacks who do this to hell.
