One of the most senior members of Saudi Arabia's royal family, Princess Maha al-Sudairi, is claiming diplomatic immunity in France after running up unpaid shopping bills of more than £15 million including £60,000 on designer lingerie.
She has ignored her furious debtors and locked herself in her £2,500-a-night suite at the George V Hotel in Paris.
When a royal aide was approached about settling the underwear bill he replied: "I'm afraid we can't go around settling bills for the Princess's knickers."
Princess Maha, whose husband, Prince Nayef, is interior minister and second-in-line to the Saudi throne, is said to have spent millions on designer clothes, jewels and other luxury products in the French capital over the past year. Her weekly dry cleaning bill alone was said to be £30,000.
Every time the Princess and her entourage visited a shop a representative would offer staff an embossed document stating stating "Payment to Follow".
Others who are owed money include fashion chain Dior, and jewellery shops Chaumet and Victoria Casal.
Jacky Giami, proprietor of clothes shop Key Largo, said the Princess stripped his shelves of some £130,000 of casual wear some seven per cent of is annual turnover.
But Princess Maha is claiming diplomatic immunity thanks to her husband's status.
In all, some 30 stores are seeking money from the Princess, including the Hotel Crillon, where she stayed before holing up in the George V, which is owned by her nephew, Prince Al Waleed.

Sounds just like Zero and MO.
Top that Winona!
Cash flow is, apparently, down for the Saudi royals. Look for the price of oil to go up, so that they can pay for their knickers.
It’s good when daddy is king.
Top that Mrs Al baby just kidding honey

“Rules? Laws? Those are for the common people.”
Why do I think that Mr. Zero and Mrs. Zero would say this?
Fifteen million British pounds. Not 1.5 million British pounds. That’s a lot of stuff.
I think they mean “creditors,” but I feel sorry for the poor lady. She obviously doesn’t have the opportunity I do, to purchase undies in a 12-pack at Wal-Mart. They’re in the cart next to the beef jerky, the pork rinds, and the beer. She probably has to go to separate stores for that stuff, the poor dear...
Dry cleaning bill? I'm surprised there is a dry cleaning bill. I would think she would wear something once and throw it away.
It must take a lot of effort to get that many clothes dirty in one week.
Maybe it’s the way she’s sitting, but it looks like she has worse cankles than HRC. She should stick to burkhas-heavy, long, black ones.
Throw them away? Heck, she could probably sell the “used” ones on eBay. I’m sure there’d be some willing buyers out there.
No problem. The retailers should immediately slap a lien on her hotel room, and any property and other assets she has in country. If she is willing to sleep at the Saudi embassy, good for her. But any time she ventures out in public, she should be followed by bill collectors.
They could also slap a lien on any monies she presents for air fare, any limousine not owned by the Saudi government, any legal counsel she retains in country, any business ventures.
She thinks she is safe. She is wide open.
Stone her.
LOL.
Must be the picture, because from my vantage, she has gorgeous legs.
However... that much money... well, the Saudis can afford it. Someone's cut a deal with a French official to "make this go away" and she'll not hear another word about it.
Money, to these people, is black and gooey. They can print whatever currency they want.
If their leaving the American taxpayer to foot the bill is any indication, you’re probably right about B&MO!
I was just wondering how a stunt like this would have gone over if a French diplomat’s wife had run up that kind of bill in Saudi Arabia and claimed diplomatic immunity.
Back in the 80’s I worked at Houston’s Methodist Hospital in the Cardiology Dept. The queen of Saudi Arabia and her entourage took over the 12th floor of the west wing of the hospital while she was there for a “work-up”. Dr. DeBakey was her primary physician.
One of our drs. covered her cardiology work-up. After weeks of testing and residing at the hospital, she and her entourage skipped out on their bills.
We all had to fight the Saudi embassy to get paid.
I like that idea. Failing that, do what the Saudis do to thieves, cut off the right hand.

Guilty.
LOL! Guilty indeed.
True.
Stoning just seems more civilized.
Isn't that convenent how they do that. Just take one pair, wear it for a month and toss it. A full year's supply and you never have to wash 'em.
Musta confused the 12 pack of beer with the undies. Which, to me, is completely understandable.
She didn’t ignore her “debtors”. She ignored her creditors.
I have to “wash ‘em”. My wife insists...
Sounds like a bunch of fools! Legally, they may not have a leg to stand on, if they gave her the stuff without even a signature.
Right you are.
A grifter is a grifter...title or not.
I thought France learned this after WWII.
Also forgot this one. [blush]
I have seen Islamics not pay their bills. I do no business with them.
She’s a piker compared to what that idiot in the White House is currently running up on our tab.
