I don’t agree in any way, shape or form that Governor Palin looks slutty. I would suspect, however, that every woman on the Gaea staff looks as ugly as Helen Thomas.
If Dave would admit that his wife is a “pasty, fat, pig-nosed, asexual-haired frump”, then I’m thinking he earnestly believes Palin looks slutty.

She’s pretty. Its more of a well-dressed suburban housewife look, though. Reminds me a little of Patricia Heaton on Everybody Loves Raymond. She doesn’t dress slutty — but her husband is not an unlucky individual (that was as delicately as I could phrase that).
As for the question as to whether the joke was appropriate. Eh. It isn’t the first joke about the appearance of a female politician, and it won’t be the last. It comes with the territory. I don’t often see objections on these boards when the appearance of Helen Thomas or Hillary Clinton is mocked.

Does it ask if Flight Attendants have the slutty look? If not then the whole poll is useless. There is no consensus that Flight Attendants look slutty, so how could Sarah have that look? Seriously, it is stupid to waste effort on polls such as this.

And it is an opportunity to learn from other Freepers. Look at post #7 from 2ndDivisionVet. Even if you already knew about those links I'm sure some of us are seeing them for the first time.
If the cost of getting that information out is giving some obscure site a few clicks, so be it.

This is a really relevant point. With over 300,000 part-time FReepers all scattered around thousands of threads there are new people viewing just about everything you post.
If you post the same thing too many times it's spamming but if you don't post it enough then a critical mass of FReepers don't see it and can't act on it.
The real action items, like lists of Letterman sponsors and polls to FReep should be repeated often. We can handle it.
Other stuff, like the dumb (but fun!) pictures I try to post not more than 2-3 different threads then move on. That seems like a fair balance to me.
But we gotta get the word out, take action, rise up and kill the double-standard.

Want to know what makes me shake my head in wonder and disgust? Women in gym shoes, (unless doing something athletic) and bare feet (unless on the beach). And women in shirts three szs too big and wore out to cover up their hips. If they wore a fitted shirt and tucked it in maybe that would serve as motivation for them to get in shape.

I see a lot of "already posted" posts on threads about stories I've seen for the first time on that thread. I see Freepers posting from every United States time zone and countries around the world. I don't have time to search back 24 hours from the last time I was on FR to see what I missed so pings and the active page are about all I ever see.
If I remember accurately my very first thread post had at least one duplicate within a few minutes. That didn't hurt anything and probably got the word out to more people than just the one thread would have. Especially since I was a newbie and a lot of Freepers might not have looked at mine because of that (except to sniff for a troll).

As an airline pilot for 20 years I suddenly have the inclination to get up and run away from the computer. This is an example of a “career ender” for a pilot.
Now as to the “look”. Some carry it off better than others, but one should never assume the the “look” has any basis in behavior. It does not. Having said that, there is some data out there that says flight crewmembers in general are a bit more adventurous than the average population, but I don't think that such info is terribly surprising, and it's definitely none of my business one way or the other. The only time I ever made a comment, was when a crewmember was fixin’ to take on some risky behavior on a trip, and even then it was more along the lines of what a Dutch uncle might caution a young ward about (lots of FA’s aren't much more than kids).
Suffice to say that I never played with the girls (or boys). It made things so much simpler. Multiple marriages are so....fatiguing.
Palin’s public outfits are a little tight compared to other female politicians, but she has a bit more (or less) to work with than most other female politicos. Her outfits are not objectionable by any means, though I would say her morphology places her somewhere to the right of the normal bell curve.
As to using the S word, David's playin’ with fire on that one. Were he on my crew, we might have a little talk.
