The latest update to Firefox addresses 67 bugs and enhancements, according to Mozilla. 23 bugs were marked as “critical” or higher. (Coincidentally this was the same number addressed by the 3.0.9 update in April.)
Nine potential security vulnerabilities were patched including 1 marked as “high” and 4 “critical”:

I wish they would put in fix that would stop firefox from disappearing from the taskbar.

I resorted to installing Version 3.5b99 Beta, and it solved my crash problems. Only problem I have found is some of the plug-ins are not compatible. But nothing that is a real problem.
I still love Firefox and I am a very heavy user.

This is why I am not as fond as FireFox as the many people tend to be. Simply being not IE is not a good enough excuse. As many updates as it has it continues to be one of the buggiest browsers I can remember. So I will continue to spend time between browsers until one is clearly better than the rest. Safari is not one of them, sorry Apple heads.

I wish they would put in fix that would stop firefox from disappearing from the taskbar. Yes, I would like that, too. Finally after this updates, it no longer takes 2 or 3 minutes to start firefox.

I’m staying with 3.0.0.
Some of the ver 2 updates destroyed my add-ons and bookmarks.
Firefox hasn’t always been reliable with their ‘update’ versions. Some have created more problems than they fixed.
Firefox has had bad memory leaks since about version 0.7. In ver 3 it isn’t quite as bad, but it still happens. Tech support claims it is the fault of add-ons/extensions.

Version 3.5b99 Beta, and it solved my crash problems
I use 3.0.0.
I found that, unless I load it first (before some other programs), it will crash WinXP with the blue screen. Otherwise, it is pretty stable.

I use FF in XP and in Linux (Kubuntu). I have not seen the problem you mention. Neither does it crash, as someone else mentions. It works flawlessly for me. All of this makes me think that the problem is not FF itself.

Really love the Greasemonkey plugin for here on FR. I've never used GM. I'm curious how you use it to enhance your FR experience.
