Busted for parking in your own driveway. Toledo residents along Holland-Sylvania near Nebraska received parking tickets in their own front yards. The mayor defended the move, then refused to answer our questions. It is illegal in Toledo to park on gravel or anything unpaved, even if it's in front of your own home. Mayor Carty Finkbeiner says if you break a law, you get a ticket.Charles Robertson breaks the law every single day-- according to the city. Robertson told us, "I just can't reach into my magic box of tricks and get 5 or 6 grand to pave my driveway."
Thursday he got caught. Charles found a $25 ticket on the windshield of his truck parked in his own driveway. The law says it's illegal to park on unpaved ground and Robertson's driveway is gravel.

Well, if Mr. Robertson was a municipality, he could tax somebody.
Maybe Toledo should lay off a few ticket writers and a mayorial aide or two before trying more of this 'creative' revenue generation.
Many roads are paved with gravel in Wyoming.
Of course, they also tell me what kind of grocery bags I can have, threaten to fine people is they throw coffee grounds and vegetables in the garbage, and think they know when I should be allowed to wash my car.
Just another revenue program.

Yep, and they are breaking the law by coming on private property.
I have the only graveled driveway in my little rural community. Everyone else settles for the dirt.

I’m sure this is what the founders had in mind...the creation of new and inventive methods of confiscating tax dollars while trampling on people’s rights. Congrats to political criminals everywhere!
Toledo is in decay mode, yet Carty Finkbeiner is involved in Toledo controversy after controversy - no voter outrage that I can see. He's given Toledo more than its share of bad publicity.
Marcy Kaptur voted for the stimulus plan. That's going to re-energize a dead city (but then again maybe there is power to raise the dead in that stimulus program - government media will without doubt spin it that way). Meanwhile Toledo has massive layoffs (including police), residents are fearful for their personal safety, and jobs in the Glass City are pretty much nonexistent.
Then I told him to get the heck out.
Of course he got elected and then ran for mayor.
When he was elected mayor.. I left town.
If that is not bad enough I got a ticket for brake lights out with no warning. I wanted to fight it but they demand 250$ down to take it to court. I already know once they got your money the futility of trying to get that back.
My suggestion is to drive around all of the city properties and see if you can find a government vehicle parking similarly. Take a few pictures GPS the coordinates, and then fight the tickets in court ——all of the ticketees....I think it’s called ‘constructive endorsement’. Many HOAs will issue defaults to homeowners in one part of a subdivision and let the same thing go elsewhere - selective enforcement, illegal.
