Reagan can hardly be named “Drug Warrior Extraordinaireâ€. Compare his actions to Clinton’s and tell me who deserves that title. Further it’s not like under Reagan’s administration drugs were suddenly made illegal, they were all ready illegal. The only think to support your statement was that the administration introduced strict mandatory sentencing and changed budget distribution for drug interdiction from treatment to law enforcement.

I never praised Clinton in what I said earlier. After all, he appointed a GENERAL to fight the WOD! He was just as disgraceful & a detriment to liberty that Reagan was, if not worse.

"Eye of the Beholder" and the entire album "...And Justice for All" was more of a cry of anarchist rage from a band reeling in pain after the death of Cliff Burton. (Cliff had died when the tour bus flipped over when it hit an ice patch in Sweden)

Well, while I agree that the band put meaning behind the lyrics in the songs on "...And Justice for All", I will use the excuse that artists make art and people can take from it what they see. I see socialism, Obama and the death of what the Founding Fathers proposed unless America awakes from its stupor in this song.

This song is about limited Freedom of Speech

It is about A LOT of limited freedoms and it perfectly applicable to the Obamanible Administration.

Nowadays, Lars Ulrich annoys me to no ends with his whiny rant about the US soldiers using their songs to “torture” terrorists back in Iraq.

Then I guess he wouldn't like to know our use of their songs back in the college fraternity days.....

I agree...just saying that I wonder if Metallica would feel the same way about it being used to describe Obama.

A far less ambiguous song is "Don't Tread on Me" from the Black Album (Metallica, Metallica)
Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
Once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
Never begins it, never, but once engaged
Never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage

Don't tread on me

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me

Love it or live it, she with the deadly bite
Quick is the blue tongue, forked as the lighting strike
Shining with brightness, always on surveillance
The eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance

Don't tread on me

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war

Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
Once you provoke her, rattling
of her tail

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me
Still, at the end of the day Lars is a liberal.

Ironic, since metal is not a liberal genre.

Lars Ulrich is not the average metalhead. He is a Dane and the rebellious son of a tennis player.

I have Danish heritage, but for now I deny that I share any ethnicity with him.

I'm Jewish, I can relate.

I've been a Metallica fan since age 13, when I saw "Enter Sandman" (before then, I was not allowed to watch MTV). My first concert ever was the "Wherever We May Roam Tour" in East Rutherford in 1992.

Sorry man, I have to disagree with you on this one. James Hetfield, Metallica’s lead-man is a libertarian and was listed as one of rock’s conservatives. He’s really good friends with Ted Nugent (and we all know where Ted stands on things). Also, they’ve always tried to refrain from being considered a political band. I will admit Lars Ulrich (drummer) and Kirk Hammett (lead guitarist) are probably liberals but they didn’t write those lyrics.
