Man Shoots Pit Bull Attacking Teen

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man shot a pit bull in the leg Thursday evening to stop the dog from attacking a teenager.
Police said the dog tore part of the 15-year-old boy's ear and bit his arm and leg, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.
According to police, the attack was the culmination of an argument among neighbors on Diane Place on the south side. The argument escalated into a fight involving the boy and others on the street.
A witness told detectives they heard the owner of the dog say "sic 'em" before releasing the animal to attack the boy.
"During the fight, the male released the dog and it bit one of the people they were fighting," Sgt. Thomas Nance told 10TV News. "Another man approached and shot the dog as it was attacking the 15-year-old."
The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital. His condition was not known Thursday night.
Police were still investigating the cause of the argument.
The dog was taken into custody by animal control officers.

Hm, if I trie that with my Golden Retriever she would just looks up at me and say “No way, not me”.
Except if the owner had shot the youth then he’d really be in trouble.
WE had a GSD when I was a kid, great dog, but she was not trustworthy around other kids if she thought they were hurting my brother. Fortunately she never bit one, but looking back, I think it was more luck than anything else.
I think mine would say, “Someone’s sick? Shall I lick their face? And do they have a cookie?”

As a kid we had a Collie named “Sonny” that bit one too many kids. My parents had him put down at age 5. Not sure what it was with that dog, he just didn’t play well/interact with children only, but was otherwise gentle and obedient with adults.
In defense of dogs (in general) kids can be obnoxious. I don’t know if some kid hurt her (we didn’t get her as a young puppy) but she was especially bad around little girls. Of course we knew nothing about training or anything and I was a kid. I thought she was great!
Shoulda shot the owner. Dog was just following orders.
That must have been one mean kid. At least the guy was able to save his dog.

I agree, granny. The guy was using his dog as a weapon.
Though the trouble making punk probably should have been shot I think it would have been more appropriate to just whip his ass.
