9-year-old attacked by pit bull

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A nine-year-old girl in Battle Creek is recovering after being attacked by a pit bull.
The girl was attacked while playing near a park, and if it wasn't for one person in the right place at the right time, it could have been much worse. The girl's rescuer was a woman who saw the whole ordeal unfold from her living room window.
The girl was playing in a playground at the Freedom Lane Apartments, just feet away from her front door, when she was attacked by a pit bull.
"I ran and she jumped on me and fell," said Shania Crappoff, who was attacked.
Crappoff walked away from the incident with just a few minor bruises and scrapes, but it could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for a neighbor who heard screams coming through her window.
"A lady came and picked me up and started kicking at the dog to get it away from me," said Crappoff.
Crappoff's rescuer was Laurica Brown.
"I took off running from my house, and pulled her from underneath the pit bull," said Brown.
As a mother of three, Brown says it was her own maternal instinct that was unleashed that day.
"I didn't even think about it, I just took off running to help that little girl," said Brown.
As for Crappoff's mother, she says she's grateful that neighbors were keeping watch, and even more grateful that her daughter's injuries were just a few scrapes and bruises.
"Luckily it wasn't too serious," said Tamika Priestly, Crappoff's mother. "It could have been worse, it scares you because it was your kid."
Newschannel 3 has been told that police have the pit bull in quarantine. That comes as quite a relief to many neighbors who say that they've been afraid to let their kids outside to play.
The moron owners of these roaming beasts that maul children should be jailed, and fined and sued into the poorhouse.
These beasts are the main reason I carry a pistol in my own north FL neighborhood.
Not only pits and pit mixes, but they are the main ones.
I'd shoot the beast.

We should outlaw them, and make owners pay jail time to the damage they do.
As if the poor girl didn’t have it hard enough already with her unfortunate name!
As Obama nears his ideal of controlling all aspects of human life, closer and closer he comes, like a mild summer breeze.... it’s not unlikely, for the sake of the greater good, that a bill will be passed to have all pit bulls put down. This sort of thing happens in socialist countries. A good example is my cousin in Quebec, who is barking-mad over the socialist provincial government’s decision to ban ALL PLASTIC BAGS! I ask you friends, can pit bulls be far behind?

Never mind the world events, let’s just get, out of 300 million citizens, the incident per day that makes the news, involving a pit bull, pit bull mix, or some other breed mistaken for a pit bull, attacking someone. Doesn’t matter if it’s one bite, or a mauling, Chet99 has to post it.
Never a post about a bite, or mauling from ANY OTHER BREED, just pit bulls. Someone here is obsessed.
I wonder why we don’t see Fawn, who wants to protect the bobcats of the world, here on these pit bull threads, protecting them from Chet99 and all the others who want to destroy the entire population of pit bulls. Just curious.
And I have read other posts from Chet that were not about pits or pit types...Some of his posts aren't even about dogs..
Give it a rest. We have heard these excuses way too many times. The dogs have no place in neighborhoods. I’d love to see you make your case to the girl that was mauled.

Killed by pits in E-Texas...
In my brother’s neighborhood...an unnamed Bama town...there was a couple who moved in with two pit bulls who were allowed to roam free. A neighbor comes out one day to find his dog being torn up by the two dogs and he levels a gun to kill one of the pit bulls. The other escapes.
The neighbor tells the couple to lock up the dog...which they won’t. So almost everyone in the whole town starts putting a rifle by the door. They try to engage the mayor of this 400-member community into establishing a leash law...which the mayor just doesn’t want to do it...but the curious thing is that this entire meeting was video-tapped...and the mayor was going to be stuck if anything happened in the future.
The couple, as I’ve been told in the last week...have finally packed up and moved. This took about eight months to make them feel unwelcomed in the community.
I hate to suggest the practice...but it should be standard procedure to shoot any pit bull that is off the owner’s property. These aren’t “pets”...they are something vastly different. The people who call them pets....have questionable values and connections to other humans.
...had to drive a couple of hours each way to the city for tool re-supplies today, so we haven’t heard about the condition of the teenage girl in town, yet (went to the hospital after her wanna-be thug girlfriends’ pit bull mauled her). ...maybe tomorrow. That didn’t make the local paper, BTW, as is the case with most pit bull maulings.
More people were injured and/or killed by cars today. Time to put them cars down.

While I respect most of gods creatures needless to say quite a few were never meant to co-exist properly with humans and in as such this particular canine breed is sitting right at that threshold of acceptance.
Its almost like having a domesticated hyena as a childrens daily companion. Some breeds are bread to perform duties, some for looks and some are just mongrels of no particular breed. And this breed no matter how much its trained just cannot reliably 100% guarantee its immune from displaying an out of the blue break of its basic nature.
Some things are meant to be vicious in order to survive, its the way of nature. And unless this natural instinct can be bread out or lobotomized from this breed they are and will always be a threat.
This is something that cannot be bargained with, bought off or have a peace agreement with, period.
And thats the facts.
As I have done quite a few times to the yearly turnover in my rural Alaska neighborhood that occasionally has a new homeowner that moves in and decides it the perfect place to let his pit bull run free they soon find that if it gets on my property I will put it down, and the animal control agrees with me.
While I'd actually support Obama on such an initiative I don't see it happening. Pit bull owners tend to be thug and trailer trash Obama voters.

Of course some sects are stricter than others, but you get my drift, its not just auto. they don't have...You NEED to go to a town for something, you don't jump in the car, you go to the barn, get the tack, harness and rig the horse back it into the buggy, attach the horse to the rigging's etc etc. There is nothing wrong with being Amish. But when one uses them as an example you cannot take out one small piece of their life style and use to justify keeping a vicious animal.. Lots of people in NY don't have cars, many don't even have to leave the city to find everything they want..But they do use taxi cabs...Manhattan is nothing but a field of yellow cabs..
Cars are a necessity in this age, vicious dogs aren't.

I was *just* thinking about this thread and wondered if what would happen if we substituted “blacks” for pit bulls and then made wide, sweeping generalizations about *them*, such as watermelon, murder, robbery, rape, basketball and fried chicken and *then* called for their wholesale extermination.
After all, following goat granny’s “logic”, do we really “need” blacks?

I do not own a pit bull nor do I have a desire for one yet I will defend the right for others to own them with my dying breath.
