My contract will be up soon for my current phone. I have decided between 2 models - the Blackberry Storm or the iphone. I know the Storm had some initial problems, but from what I have read the lastest software release corrected them. I also like the iphone, but I would have to switch carriers for it. Does anyone currently own the Storm, and if so do they like it? How reliable is the iphone? From what I have read, the Storm screen has better resolution.
iPhone requires AT&T. I had them for a long time and they sucked. They were good at first but later on they lied all the time to sell me new stuff. At the end I had constant network problems & constant dropped calls.
that said the iphone is probably the better phone.
Don’t really know a thing about phones. But I can tell you in the last 8 months, my verizon service has gone from stellar to absolute CRAP. I got a year to go before my contract expires, so they got a year to straighten out their mess. If they don’t, I won’t be using verizon anymore.
I have the Storm while my GF has the Iphone. I also recently test-drove the Pre recently and I admit, the Pre looks like an with better apps. The iPhone screen resolution is better but the Storm’s features work better than the IPhone. Like the previous post, why do you think Apple dropped the prices for the Iphone?
I will stick with my Crackberry but within months, I will probably take the Pre which takes the Iphone to school. I just hate Sprint so I still have time to decide.

I just got a new 32 gig 3G S yesterday, and I love it even more than my 3g that I got last year. I'll recommend the 3G S to my boss since he should qualify for the upgrade about now.
BB is supposed to have a new Storm out within the next few months. As Storm owner, I would say wait for the second version or go Iphone. The first Storm is cool, but is far from perfect. I expect their second version will be impressive. They do have a lot of the software problems solved, but it still has it’s share of problems.
Get the new 3G-S ( if you decide on the iPhone ), - you’ll be glad you did.
Still, the way it feels in the hand is perfect. It strikes me as being the current "Ultimate Gadget"
I've never been all that fond of Apple but, the iPhone is brilliant.
You should really take some time to physically look at both phones as well as compare features.
I never went with Blackberry, but I have been using smartphones since the Treo 180. About 4 months ago, I decided I had enough with Windows Mobile and broke down and got an iPhone.
Hands down, it is the best smartphone I have ever used and it’s user-friendliness is head and shoulders above any others that I have used or tested. The applications are also cheap. Expensive applications (at least at the time) on the Blackberry, kept me from going that way years ago. I needed an SSH client and I think the only one on RIM was like $100. On the iPhone, the best one I’ve found (Pterm) is a whopping $4.99. There is every kind of application imaginable for it and more are coming out every day. Evernote, Remember the Milk, Grocery Gadget, etc, have made me a lot more organized and productive.
I’ve heard a lot of iffy reviews on the Storm with rumors of lag problems, none of which occur on the iPhone.
I’m looking forward to giving the Pre a spin, since I always had a soft spot for Palm, but it will take a lot for me to leave the iPhone at this point.
#1 daughter has the I-phone. I have a Blackberry Pearl. The Pearl does all I want it to but her I-phone is way ahead.
The negative for her is ATT and dropped calls. She had ATT on a “regular” phone and never had the issue. She lives in the Atlanta area and says dropped calls is a real hassle.
I have Sprint, live on a mountain (somewhat remote), and never have a dropped call issue.
iPhone rocks. Love my 3G, lust for the new one.
I was a Blackberry user for years and tried the Storm when I was ready for a new phone. I hated it. It was not intuitive at all. I switched phone carriers, got an Iphone and have no regrets. It is an amazing device. I’ve become a member of the Iphone cult.
No wifi = epic fail.
What decided me was a previous go-round with AT&T, which had terrible coverage in my area (Washington DC—you’d think they’d concentrate on doing well there, of all places) and kept embarrassing me in front of clients by dropping my calls. Then after I discontinued that service and moved to Verizon I kept getting ongoing bills from them for services I had never received. We went around about this for YEARS while they maintained I was a customer and I insisted that I didn’t even have one of their devices anymore. It was a nightmare. I could never get this off my credit report. I would never advise anyone to go with AT&T no matter what kind of snazzy toy they offer.
With Verizon now, quite happy, calls seldom get dropped and both billing and customer service are helpful and clear. I have had an EnV and am getting a Storm today because my middle-aged eyes are having a hard time texting on tiny buttons or seeing the messages on a small screen.
I have a t-mobile G1 (Google phone) and absolutely love it - although t-mobile’s coverage is somewhat lacking in more rural areas. It has 3G, wi-fi, on screen keyboard (recent update), a camera, a slide out keyboard and a decent offering of apps (both free and non-free). The web browser is pretty decent and it does great with corporate email accounts (imap/pop/smtp).
Just another option...
Second on the G1 recommendation. Android is nice and quick, and the phone is constantly borrowed by my sister when we’re somewhere as I have 3G service and she has none.
The 3G-S is worth the upgrade.
is the Pre the one that can run multiple apps at the same time?
