KIRSTIE ALLEY: "I'M FAT AND LOOK LIKE HELL!"
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/66862 ^

Posted on 06/24/2009 11:13:47 AM PDT by traumer

Food engorged fattie Kirstie Alley's meltdown!

"I'm fat, and I look like hell," declared a tearful Kirstie Alley after her latest desperate diet plan ended in disaster - and she soared to a frightening 250 pounds.

The once-upon-a-time Cheers beauty who vowed to stick to a diet, returned to a path of self-destruction. She put on 20 pounds - reaching a scale-busting 250, according to an insider.

"It's very sad. Kirstie tries to lose weight but she can't break the cycle of years of eating junk food and fatty comfort fare," said the insider who added that the frustration of her diet failure recently led the actress to collapse in tears.

"Kirstie finally broke down! She was in tears over her lack of willpower and frustrated that she can't say no to eating the fatty foods that keep her a heavyweight."

The star - whose goal weight is 155 - has hired a physical trainer and starts each day eating right, but by the end of the day is chowing down on fave fatty junk foods.

"Kirstie is in trouble," said the insider, "and frankly it is beginning to worry people close to her.

"When she stopped working for Jenny Craig, she stopped having someone stand over her shoulder and weigh her. And now no one is calling her to talk her through the cravings."

Kirstie's favorite food is Chinese at her favorite spot, the Chi Dynasty restaurant near her home.

The insider added that Kirstie is "very self-conscious" that diners will spot her overeating. One of her strategies to look like a modest eater is to take the really fattening dishes like pan fried noodles with chicken, shrimp, beef, pork and vegetables home, hidden in take-out bags.

It comes down to either having the willpower or not to do the right thing.

Before everyone dogpiles on her, I'll say that I know a bit of what she's going through. I lost over 100 pounds, and keeping it off is the real challenge. So far, so good, though. I hope she finds a plan that works for her.

Here's the thing, though : the "diet" doesn't ever really end. It has to transform into a sustainable eating plan.

She’s also very tall. So, 155 would be ideal for her.

I had wondered if the type of diet may be the problem (no matter what the commercials said). If she were eating enough of the right foods and doing the exercise, she might not be as starved for the junk food. The more I exercise and eat regularly, the less inclined I am to want to just eat anything. But, what do I know. I’m just a fattie, also.

I can sympathize with her but at least she has the means to correct the problem. I wish I could just get my stomach stapled or banded before it gets out of control.

Absolutely. I understand that she went back to eating what she wanted using the ‘a little here and there won’t hurt me’ excuse. Well, a little here and there can add up mighty quickly. You either have to adapt to a new way of eating or things go south.

I went vegan overnight a year and a half ago and haven’t looked back. I still drool over some hamburger or ice cream ads, but I know where that gets me - high bp, high cholesterol, weight gain, and tougher to control diabetes. When you adopt these eating plans, and there are a variety of good plans, including those which include meat, you have to adopt them as a way of life, not a temporary fix.

It's challenging to keep my food intake down when I'm still either emotionally or physically hungry. But I weigh daily and keep a food diary. That has been essential to maintaining. I give myself a five pound range and make my food choices depending on where I am in that range. I exercise daily as well, but that is usually enjoyable on the majority of days.

Most challenging, though? Not stopping at pizza hut or Olive garden for dinner. Getting the six inch sub instead of the footlong.

But I'm not complaining. I like being thin and am willing to work to stay that way.

I have been working for about 3 months now on losing weight and getting more exercise. Have dropped almost 8 lbs so far. That does not seem like much, but it has been much harder than I anticipated, and I have not had any candy since around Easter time, very rare other sweet treats, eat out about once each 3 weeks. I think FReepers could be a little kinder as to Kirstie’s challenges.

The obvious solution is to tax all food so outrageously that no one will be able to afford to overeat.

We can give the additional tax income to Rob Reiner while pretending that we’re doing something good for kids.....

Translation: Kirstie was losing weight only when there was a direct financial benefit in doing so. The motivation behind her Jenny Craig contract wasn't really weight loss, it was income gain. She's proven that by her inability to use the same program to get the same results. The difference is the income stream. IMO she'll start losing weight again, when someone offers her a paycheck (and free oversight) to do so. Until then, she'd rather pay for Jujubes than Jenny Craig.

I’m a vegetarian, not a vegan, and that seems to be working for me. (Veganism is hard!!!) When I first cut out meat, almost 20 years ago, my BP, blood sugar and LDL cholesterol all dropped into optimal territory. They remain really good, and I have been known to brag (lol).

For me, consistency of exercise is the ONE thing that helps me with weight control. It is a never-ending battle.

We live in a strange world in which one’s girth is given this much concern.

I’ve been fat, and I’ve been thin.

I’ve always been me.

I’m now fat, and I call it my own personal “jerk repellant.”

My ex wife was 5'9” and around 155 lbs when she was rowing for collegiate athletics with me. She dropped to about 145 after losing some of that muscle.

At either 155 or 145 she looked so good it HURT.

155 lbs is a perfect weight for a woman who is tall and has what men (and babies) like.

Suggestion.

Eliminate carbs altogether. Sorta’ like Atkins, but you never leave the “induction” phase.

That, with exercise, and you’ll begin to drop weight within 2 weeks. The first week you’ll lose about 5 lbs of water weight, and afterward you’ll begin to lose fat.

Keep the exercise, and you begin to drop very fast. A few years ago I dropped 20 pounds (34” to 31-32” waist) in about 6 weeks.

Best of luck.

Spongebob: I can’t do this, Patrick! I’ve tried, and I’ve tried... (turns around with a distorted face) ...but I’m not always as confident as I look. Maybe I’d better just go back and hide. (Patrick gets angry)
Patrick: (stands up and turns around) What is wrong with you people? Afraid to look ugliness in the face? (picks up Spongebob) Well, here, look at it! It’s ugly, isn’t it?! Here! You look at it!
Spongebob: Hello. (group runs off)
Patrick: You, look at it!
Spongebob: Hi. (group of people run)
Patrick: Look at it! (everyone runs out) Look at it! Look at it! Look at it! I want all of you to look at it! (everyone in the theater runs out)
Spongebob: They all ran away, Patrick.
Patrick: I bet there's no line at the snack bar.

Ahhh...this is why I hate the ‘weight’ threads so much.

No. For someone tall, in her mid to late 50s, 155 is just about perfect.

Carrying around and extra 100 pounds is not healthy...and she knows this. But, like when she was addicted to coke, she is now addicted to food. She needs to have serious ‘help’ to work thru her addiction/crutch issues.

The photo posted isn’t flattering; it has her neck/head at an odd angle. Super long hair doesn’t flatter her shape right now either. Kirstie has resources the rest of us can’t imagine; she will do just fine (I sincerely hope).
