You were right - My son is sooooo embarrassed - course it could have been my humming throwing him off ... ;-)

Actually ASD got it at #9 - and with a youtube video to boot! I knew it was Jimi and I knew it was from Band Of Gypsies, but I had to go look up lyrics to determine the right song.

...thanks for the offer though!

i feel your pain. my 14 yr old guitar maniac was obsessed with hendrix for a while. i tuned him in to stevie ray, ry cooder, and eric johnson. he now is a very happy blues fan who can play slide better than people 2X his age. he still loves hendrix, zztop, aerosmith, and a host of others. have fun with your music man.

You’re right - by the time I caught that my son was bemoaning how his life was over for not recognizing my lame age-addled interpretation ... so I was trying to calm him down and still keep up with the thread. Luckily despite Uhbama’s economy I can still afford to buy you both a beer - your choice ... ;-)

Happy to help and gratified to hear that you and your son play together - I’m envious!

Son says "I never thought I'd say this but send me the FR link!"

He's really incredibly talented - it all started when he was maybe 12 and started noodling around on my VERY dusty beat-up Yamaha acoustic. All my kids have had good exposure to music thanks to my wife and all her trips to the lessons.

The two gals are violinist and cellists - county and state awards he's done viola, piano, sax and guitar with awards as well.

Anyway seeing Ben have fun with my ol beater my daughter got a mexican fender and small amp but wouldn't let him touch it. Very frustrating for him.

They grew up on the classics - Beatles, Stones, Elvis, etc. - no disco - no rap but actually a fair amount of "real" classics - Beethoven, Vivaldi, Bach, etc.

Anyway I went out and got a Hagstrom Gibson knock-off and a Peavy 100 Watt amp - said it was mine but that he could play it anytime ... he took to it like a fish to water -

Of course I'm now informed I should have gotten a Fender like Jimi's but he now has his own with wah, fuzz, reverb and whatever - he could tell you all the names - anyway - you're right - I'm blessed and it is fun. Ideally he'd have my wife on bass, me on percussion and him on lead/rhythm - our Australian Shepard does the vocals - not kidding! ;-)

I always got an “A” in show and tell ... but by your emoticon I’d ease up a little on that if I were you ... or maybe I’m not seeing it right? ;-)

Second thoughts - sorry for the bad joke - I’m famous for them but at least I didn’t burn the ribs between posts. ;-)
