EXCLUSIVE: $25 Charge To Attend Michael Jackson Memorial Posted on Jul 02, 2009 @ 03:15PM
Fans who wish to attend Michael Jackson's star-studded memorial service at Staples Center will have to shell out $25 to sit in the stands, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
Family, friends and VIPS will have seats on the main floor for The Tuesday, July 7th Staples service, first reported by RadarOnline.com, while the general public will be plucking down $25 to sit in the stands.
The memorial service will feel like a concert production featuring guest speakers, a lot of music and video screens inside and outside of Staples, a source close to the planning tells RadarOnline.com.
Michael Jackson's close friend Elizabeth Taylor is expected to attend, along with Diana Ross.
T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael's upcoming "This Is It" tour will not go to waste. They will be sold outside Staples to people entering the service.
The service will be held between 10am PST and noon PST. The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus will be on standby, literally. The circus act just happens to be in town and is slated to begin their run at the Staples Center from July 8 to July 11.
"We will not be taking part in the memorial service," spokesperson Stephen Payne confirmed. "We are prepared to make any logistical changes with equipment and such to help out."
SOB has a nose for blood in da wadda.
Maybe the Phelps gang from Westboro Baptist will protest. That would be quite a show.
>>T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael’s upcoming “This Is It” tour will not go to waste.<<
There has never been a more aptly named tour.
Maybe they should just give in and haul his carcass to venues all over the world. No one will be able to tell the difference between his corpse and the walking corpse that we saw the last few years anyway.
I knew people were gonna make money off Michael Jackson’s death, but I didn’t think it was going to happen at the funeral... LOL...
What’s the betting that The Kenyan will be lumped in with all the adulation?
>>SOB has a nose for blood in da wadda.<<
MJ’s daddy Joe will be looking to squeeze every penny available.
That’ll cut down on the crowd. LOL,
parsy, who is sick of this crap on TV
Someone said that what has been sold since his death is already enough to wipe out his debts.
Me too. Just last night I told my wife there would be a charge for attending the funeral. LOL
God Bless Michael Jackson,
and we’re the capitalists i don’t see a problem with this...as long as it goes towards his children...not to mention there is probably a real high demand to go to Jackson’s funeral
or maybe Michael faked his death and is using this to pay off his debts...would be a great plan
It should be a part of the circus, they could shoot him out of a cannon! I’d pay $25.00 to see that!
LOL! He always aspired to be Peter Pan.
Three or four days ago I said that I bet there would be pay for view at the funeral. he He
Michael Jackson was a talented enough individual, and certainly seemed to be pleasant although very strange- but he always hung out with the wrong crowd.
I’m not suprised at all with his “friends” and family charging for his funeral.
And a booth or two that has pin the nose on the face game.
Lenin can open for Jackson on the new tour.
I didn't know the Jacksons were Gypsies!
Can't rule it out ~ singing, dancing, lots of kids ~
>>Lenin can open for Jackson on the new tour.<<
John or Vlad?
Maybe they should just take the casket on a world tour and charge 25 dollars a pop.
I thought muslims just got wrapped in a sheet and planted!
Oh. My. God! He’s a laughing stock in death as well as in life.
Might help to thin the crowd a bit. If it was free, 10 million people would show up wanting to get in. Besides, I’m supposing that the rent on the Staples Center is pretty steep.
Nice payday for just kicking off and being put on display.
I'd be interested in what the Staples Center will charge for the rent. Here in Columbus at Nationwide Arena (same size; newer than Staples) it's roughly $15,000 an hour.
>>It should be a part of the circus, they could shoot him out of a cannon! Id pay $25.00 to see that!<<
That would be a great flash game — shoot him out of a cannon and try to hit the moving casket. Difficulty increases as Joe and Al move the casket faster and it gets smaller...
Nationwide Arena here in Columbus is $15,000 per hour.
Within 24 hours of the death.
All that money is going straight to Joe Jackson’s pocket.
So is Jack Nicholson getting floor seats for this thing?
Indeed. But it just seems totally fitting somehow. "Getcha Michael funeral T-shirts right here."
I wouldn’t go to this molester’s funeral if they served free beer and burgers.
” Whats the betting that The Kenyan will be lumped in with all the adulation? “
Barry, like Bubba, has to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral.
No one will be surprised to see a tacky video tribute from him show up at this spectacle.
make it stop. please. mj is dead, let the man rest. i feel so sorry for his kids, but all mj all the time is making me cranky. note to self...findahappyplace, findahappyplace.
Wouldn’t that be plunking down, not plucking down.
But then you just never know.
Jackson funerally ought to be something to see.
Mac Daddy Joe isn’t getting shit. Left out of the will. Notice he hasn’t been out and about since that announcement.
Of course, he will reap benefits as long as Katherine is alive since she gets 40%. Her share probably reverts back to the kids when she dies. At least I hope so.
They can open Neverland and put the Jacksons on the payroll to keep it up.
I don’t have a problem with this being the most grandiose tackey funeral ever in history.
It would be befitting Michael Jackson.
LOL! If it were Madison Square Garden, Spike Lee would definitely have the floor seats.
Before they decided on Staples, I joked they were going to do it like the Lakers championship rally, rent the Memorial Coliseum and get the Lakers broadcasters Joel Meyers and Stu Lantz to emcee.
Have been trying to see who was involved with NoI and/or brother, Jermaine. Don't thing Bro was directly involved, but used to get to him.
The problem is that the LAPD did not seal off his mansion.
It will be hard to ever get a conviction at this point.
I forsee the irresponsible Drs who gave the prescriptions getting into a lot of trouble.
Here is an interesting article about the concert side of this. I believe AEG owns Staples Center. If it is a drug related death the insurance company doesn’t pay.
AEG owns the intellectual rights to the recordings they made. So how does the estate benefit from them?
Anybody who would want to go the MJ funeral certainly would be willing to pony up at $50.00
I bet MJ dad is thinking $25.00 is a act of humanity < / s >
