Movieguide® has sent a letter asking local government officials throughout the U.S. to consider stopping the screening of the controversial movie "Brüno" starring comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Movieguide® Publisher Dr. Ted Baehr announced today.
In the letter, Movieguide® asks officials to get an injunction against screening the movie on Friday until officials can look at the movie and determine whether it should be banned because it does not fit the "community standards" in their area, as defined by U.S. Supreme Court rulings on obscenity and pornography.
"This movie has been cut to get an R rating," Dr. Baehr said, "but it still contains much pornographic, offensive content."
Among the "pornographic" content in the movie, according to Movieguide® and Dr. Baehr, are "extremely graphic" sex scenes, including depicted intercourse, depicted homosexual sodomy, a depicted orgy, and depicted oral sex (including anal licking); explicit shots, including extensive close-ups, of full male and female nudity; and, "obscene" language about sex acts.
"The movie also contains scenes mocking Jews, African Americans and Christian evangelicals," Dr. Baehr said.
He noted that a 2000 Federal Trade Commission study showed that nearly half of all movie theaters in the U.S. actually sell tickets to children and underage teenagers trying to get into an R-rated movie by themselves, without an adult.
"Supreme Court rulings on obscenity allow local, state and federal governments to ban such movies like Brüno,' or at least restrict them to 17 and over regardless of adult accompaniment," Dr. Baehr added.
"Government has a duty to protect the community, especially vulnerable children and underage teenagers, from this kind of pornographic material," he concluded.
Dr. Baehr is chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry which publishes Movieguide®, CFTVC's family guide to movies and entertainment. CFTVC and Movieguide® are an international non-profit ministry dedicated to "redeeming the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media."

Sacha Baron Cohen has a fiance. He isn’t gay, he’s an IRL troll, and a bloody funny one as well...
Many thanks. Sorry for the re-post as I just this minute received from Movieguide.
Whether it is "bloody funny," I'm sure that it would be up to an individual to comment on the level of what one deems as "funny."
It’s for adults. If you don’t want to give it publicity, don’t talk about it. This is the US not Iran.
I won’t see it, but adults should be allowed to see it.
IRL?
Only those people that pay the money to go see it.
That's all the action you need to take.
I don’t really like the guy as a person and I don’t think he’s particularly funny. I did see the one clip in a commericial for it where he’s on Oprah? I believe and he’s adopted a black kid (poking fun at the trend in white celebutards adopting black african children) and saying he has chosen a traditional african name for the kid - “OJ”.
That gave me a smile. I mean, after all, he was innocent, right?
I know Ron Paul get’s punk’d in the movie. I doubt Alan Keyes is in it.
If i was Jewish (and I guess I am somewhat) I would be ashamed.
Funny how Hollywood NEVER makes fun a muslims. You know, the same mulsims that stone homosexuals to death...
I can’t stand the guy. How many sex jokes (gay or otherwise) can you make before its boring? 3? 4? He’s no Don Rickles, IMHO.
Memo to Dr. Ted
Re: “Brüno”
Don’t buy a ticket and forbid your minor children from attending.

Big Hollywood had a review of the movie and the guy who reviewed seems to say that Cohen is going after the elitists and their sacred cows - gays and blacks - with this movie.
“In real life.”
I think this is a publicity stunt to sell a bad movie.
Yes, it is already posted but it is OK with me if you post it every fifteen minutes until Sacha dies of drug-resistant HIV (hopefully soon).
In Real Life. (As opposed to the internet)...
"The movie also contains scenes mocking Jews, African Americans and Christian evangelicals," Dr. Baehr said.
Movies are supposed to be entertaining or thought provoking or in the form of a documentary to be informative or an expose'
The ratings are to give a person an idea of content of the movie so what to expect.
I'm not sure how "R" rated movie that promotes sodomy, orgies, anal licking, full nudity and lewd jokes and obscene props falls into the category of "entertainment".
Personally, I'm a little weary of the media filth and debauchery being passed off as entertainment.
Call it what it is and let people see it if they want to, but let's do put it back in the dark corner of society where it came from and belongs
It’ll will be shown in Massachusetts public schools. Massachusetts allows pornography in their public schools.
Send your 15 year old son or daughter to buy a ticket - if they get one - hire a lawyers and sue. It might be “the liberal way” but it works. Good for the Goose, good for the Gander...

Between a rock and a hard place.
What you are saying is that the government should not be the authority that prevents anyone from seeing this movie. After all, we're talking about denial of first amendment rights. The first amendment is clear that it is "Congress" that is the feared culprit.
I assume you would support efforts by groups other than the government to prevent the showing of that which corrupts our society and hopes to open up our children to sexual exploitation and abuse.

It never Stopped South Park......
In you opinion maybe. Nothing about this porn flick is funny to most people. More like repulsive, revolting.
Actually, the gays HATE this movie, so maybe it’s not so bad.
If individuals want to voice opposition to this movie, fine. As long as the govt is not involved. I include courts as govt.
Of course, since they are part of government.
But, if I lead a boycott of the local theater, and they pull the movie, then that’s a result of customer pressure. It is not a result of government intervention.
I wouldn’t object to a clear recognition by parents that the long-term security of their children and community is better preserved by defunding anything that encourages sexual deviancy.
Why let a wolf roam the community? Is it better to talk about fairness to wolves or about ridding the community of a potential threat?
Conservatives cannot use the “for the children” argument like the 0bamabots to justify big govt.
However, if you a right to persuade public opinion, but in most cases it works to the opposite effect.
Raping young boys is the rest of the “gay” lifestyle. How many will stand by and let these degenerates take more power, adopt children, and marry kids. Sickos are taking over.
The same argument could be made for theft, assault, and even murder. There are some things that need the conscience of society to step forth and say this will not stand.
You're right as to the connection to being assaulted as a child or youth, whether male or female, distorts their self-worth, which leads to all kinds of destructive behavior, including but not limited to homosexuality, prostitution, becoming a molester themselves.
Unless and until America (or for that matter the rest of civilization) realize that children are not sexual objects for adult self-gratification, making the penalties extremely severe, our society will continue to slide into barbarism and total chaos.
No, only when parents do it, not by the force of Big Brother.
From what I've seen so far of the character he's more likely mocking gays and the gay lifestyle.
I agree. This “entertainment” debases society, and it is actually something the socialists use to break down the family and remove God from culture so it is easier for them to take over.
I’ve been seeing ads for this pile of excretement on tv. I’m glad I saw this article because now I know for sure I’ll never see this movie.
That’s a good question, that’s where good parenting comes into play. We don’t ban the big mac because some child might have a parent who could care less about what his or her child eats.
I disagree. When we allow the KKK to march down a public street, or a Marxist to organize a labor rally, or a Buddhist to meditate in a public park, society is not giving their stamp of approval on racism, Marxism, or Buddhism.
I agree that “denial of publicity” is one strategy. It has a lot to commend it in many cases.
However, it is not the only strategy.
I’ve seen it. He messes with Muslims, too.
