We got hit by a freak storm..6 inches in 1 hr and 8 for the day.

Sump pump couldn’t keep up.<<<

No, I would be surprised if it did keep up.

We have had much the same here, when I lived in the hills near Oatman, Arizona, my neighbor a half mile away said she had 4 1/2 inches in a half hour........I had none.

But her rain washed out my road completely, several feet deep.

I had forgotten to tell you that I tried the copper wire treatment on the one apple tree to no success.<<<

Maybe you also needed to do the nakkid full moon dance.

Or maybe, you waited too long to put it on.

It would be interesting to apply the copper wire to one of the 3 shoots and see what you get in growth, will it grow larger and stronger?

EVERYONE was either snickering or laughing out loud - and as we got off, several patted him on the back - still laughing.<<<

That will do it, we all laugh at ‘tourists’.

We need to laugh more.

>>>nakkid full moon dance<<< speaking of nakkid full moon dance - have you heard anything from Wneighbor lately?

Haven’t heard from her since her daughters boy friend message from Iraq. Still praying he is OK!

Safeway label of Ranch Dressing.<<<

I’m going to buy that next time we’re at Von’s (same store).

Your cat story is one of my favorites. I hope we see our pets in heaven. I miss mine:

Heidi, the miniature German Shepherd, so gentle.
Avis, our smallish furry brown and black mixed breed, a darling dog.
Lucky, my black and white spaniel, probably the smartest dog I ever had. Loved to be vacuumed.
Waggs, my chow-brador, stubborn and loyal and funny.
Merlin, my Russian Blue who took over the baskets I put on the counter and lay on the back of the couch, purring.
Cindy, my black and white shorthair cat who stayed aloof but secretly loved to be petted.

Can you buy mustard leaves? Is that what they call mustard greens, and do they have to be cooked?

The liberals in California don’t want us doing anything over here. Pelosi is a sock puppet for a guy named George Miller who thinks growing trees in rows is unnatural and evil. He’s really really strange. He refuses to give any ground... he wants the Central Valley of California, the richest and most productive farmland in the world, to go back to being a desert.

That’s how Arizona is... it rains fifty miles away and in an hour the washes are running over their banks.

I’ll try it and report next year on results.

It sure is... Saw that when we were maneuvering near Yucca in the early 60’s - it rained somewhere up near Kingman and we got flash floods in the washes many miles away with a perfectly clear sky. LOL we learned that washes were NOT a good place to camouflage a truck!

The mustard used for seed is the same family but a less leafy variety with seed production more prevalent.

They can be used raw in salads, but careful - they add a peppery taste. They seem to lose most of it when cooked.

Busily buttoning up “just in case.” With the cold, rain, tomato blight, ground hogs, and deer, I am still loading up friends and relatives with our garden surplus, which tells me what I already knew-I plant way TOO much and hubby just plowed up another plot!!!

Will be taking a short hiatus, but will try to catch up whenever possible.

In looking at the health care issue, it strikes me that both SEIU, all unions and Gov’t. elected and employed people ‘LACK STANDING’ as both are exempted!

If it is good for the goose, it should be good for the gander.

Category 4 is nothing to mess with!

Weather models are not very convincing that it will track out to sea.

Just hope we all miss this one.

You are right, but the “health care reform” (i.e., government takeover of medicine) bill provides a huge payoff to unions to bail out their pensions and insurance funds. They are basically selling out their members because later on, the unions will be broke and will HAVE to let their members go on Obamacare. HotAir said the unions are insolvent now, back in June.

Just checked U.S. Navy forecast maps - they predict Cape Cod and Bay of Fundy will get hit.

Take Care!

>>> I feel I have failed somehow in not being able to shield future generations from the shallow, egocentric, power-hungry JERKS that we have in power today. <<<

Jeeze , I thought I was the only “boomer” which felt that way.

I'm pretty sure you guys haven't failed. All you or anyone else can do is raise their own kids to have the character and values you have yourselves. It's all the other parents that have failed, have let a liberal education system brainwash their kids and/or contributed to it themselves by passing on an me-first 60's-style entitlement atttitude. It's very sad that those types of parents seem to be in the majority. And we can't shield people from themselves - they voted for the socialists. That's not anybody's fault but their own. IMO.

Very sad. And likely where we are headed if the current trend continues.

Bear Attacks, Injures Aspen Woman In Her Home

I always take stories like this with a grain of salt. We know now the MSM likes to sensationalize anything. The black bears I have encountered personally have been extremely passive around humans. I've heard stories of cubs being teased by kids and the black bear mother will protect the cubs by getting between the kids and cubs and getting pelted with rocks herself, but not attacking the kids at all. An adult came along and made the kids leave the bears alone. A bear habituated to food by humans, however, will need to be either relocated or put down. They can be problems breaking into houses and cars..

Grizzlies are of a different temperament, however. I'd hate to ever see one of those!

I hope we see our pets in heaven. I miss mine:

Well, I personally don't think it would be heaven without pets being there. Mine have been more lovable and loyal and compassionate than most people. ;)
