WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A vocal group of conspiracy theorists known as "birthers" are riling the White House with their persistent claim that Barack Obama is not an American citizen and therefore ineligible to be president. The claim that the United States' first African-American president was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, first emerged during his presidential campaign, but it has garnered more media attention in the summer "silly season," a traditionally slow news period when many Americans are on vacation. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs looked exasperated at his briefing on Monday when a reporter asked him, "Is there anything you can say that will make the birthers go away?"

Barack Obama is NOT eligible for the Presidency because he is not a natural born citizen. John A. Bingham, primary framer, 14th Amendment, states- "Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen." Obama himself has stated that he is the son of a Kenyan- Kenya being a foreign sovereignty. Thus, Obama is not a natural born citizen even if he were actually born in Hawaii.

Did Mr. Bingham have a really bad case of Attention Deficit Disorder and not bother with putting that line in the 14th Amendment or was there some other reason that Bingham's definition of 'natural born citizen' did not make it into the 14th?

Gibbs won’t even address the issues. Obama could have been born in the White House and he’s still NOT a natural born citizen (although I believe he was born in Kenya).

Now Hawaii officials are saying that all birth certificates were destroyed in 2001. But on October 31, 2008, this contrary statement-
“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record. Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

Birthers allege that the President “may not be” a natural born citizen because he hasn’t provided the documentary proof that would satisfy even the U.S. Passport agency to obtain a U.S. passport.
This lack of full disclosure by Obama is a fact and it extends to withholding his school records and other records regarding his involvement in questionable dealings with shady persons in Chicago.
GWB opened up his entire past life’s records for public scrutiny and when the press couldn’t find that much in his records to go after him with, the press went after him over alleged misdoings for which there was no paper trail or evidence other than hearsay by people with marginal reputations. The press screamed bloody murder over perceived “secrecy” when documents that probably didn’t exist were never produced for their examination, thus putting the Bush administration in a position of proving a negative.
And that doesn’t even cover the way the MSM is covering the economy right now. The optimism and positivism in the news even while our economy continues to circle around the abyss which Obama’s health care and cap and trade policies promise to stuff our nation’s fortunes into is abysmal and nauseating.
And the rest of the world is waking up faster than most Americans as to what an economically and militarily weak America means for them. Our allies think we’re crazy for not seeing what Obama is doing to our country, and our enemies are giddy with joy.

Any one of the things known about him should have been enough to send him to the bottom of hopefuls.
No doubt he is a citizen. The problem comes in when reading the Constitution and does he satify the requirements of being President. Survey says————NO!

WHAT??? I've done much "family research" in recent years...in Massachusetts,New Hampshire and Connecticut and in Massachusetts,I've *personally* seen official birth,death and marriage records dating back to the early 1900's.

It would be against the law for Obama to release his “Law practice client list” and there is no evidence whatsoever that Obama had a “Pakistan Passport.”
However, I have no problem with the rest of the list as long as from now on every presidential candidate will release her or his parent’s marriage certificate, elementary and high school records, college transcripts, medical records etc..
Make it official Gibbs show that "COLB document" in a court of law. I suppose Obama is not that "Exasperated".

I agree with an upthread post - even assuming the Hawaii birth is legitimate, there obviously is SOMETHING in the paper trail that is highly suspect at a minimum. If you release nothing, then there can’t be any questions from the supine media. It sickens me that he can get away with the lack of a paper trail (including his college transcript, medical records, etc.) - if this were a Republican, the media and Dem Congress would be going berzerk.

Bingo! This is exactly where I am at. I am not declaring anything other than the Constitution is not being adhered to because there is not a process to obtain all the facts and sort this out. I am more concerned about the sloppiness going on here and precedence being established via this "don't ask don't tell" charade than anything related to Obama specifically.
All they have to do to put this to sleep forever is ... produce the birth certificate. Simple enough, right? Just show the world the birth certificate. Why is that a problem? Unless there is a problem.

In short, Noelani kindergarten records for Obama are missing from the Hawaii department of education files.
Those records should include a birth certificate, among other things.

Yeah, I was reading somewhere that Hawaii twins were born the same day Obama was, but their birth announcement was missing from those Hawaii newspaper ads. This suggests that their’s was deleted and Obama’s inserted in their place.
