Not surprisingly, the Obama Joker Poster reported by NewsBusters Saturday is already drawing some outrage.
According to a television station where the posters have been spotted, "Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson is calling the depiction, politically mean spirited and dangerous."
Yet, when Vanity Fair's Politics & Power blog published a somewhat similar visual representation of George W. Bush last July, nobody seemed to complain. In fact, throughout the Bush years, demeaning drawings of the President and Vice President Dick Cheney were quite commonplace.
But, according to KTLA.com, depicting Barack Obama in unflattering terms is a no no (h/t Sonny Bunch via Jonah Goldberg):

Exactly! If the person who did those posters does come forward, they deserve whatever they get for being stupid.
To whoever you are, just sit back and enjoy the attention your creation is garnering. They don’t want to ask why you did it, they want to arrest you for vandalism or whatever other charges they can manufacture.
As do I, the double standard is unpalatable.
Can someone produce an image along this story line
Gippetto(This is a dark Gipetto)...Ayers
Goes to Africa to cut down a tree.
Floats it home.
He makes a puppet pinocchi-Obama, but with the Joker face.
And his nose keeps growing at the campaign promises that are revealed as lies during his time in office Office.
An evil gimeni cricket would be prof. gates.
Press secretary Gibbs could be Tinkerbell.

“A lot of people are getting their noses out of joint about a poster popping up around Los Angeles comparing President Barack Obama to the Joker. Frankly, I dont get it.One embraces terrorists and madmen, is dedicated to anarchy and the destruction of capitalist society, and sends the population fleeing in horror from his creations.
The other is a fictional character played by the late Heath Ledger.
Dear gawd I love it so.
Political cartoons are NOT illegal. Posting them around town MAY be. Just like the spray paint behind the posters on that bridge support, the law may consider the signs as graffiti.
Put me on the jury however, and I say NOT GUILT!
Were there ever any articles complaining about Bush cartoons or caricatures?
Geez, can’t type today. NOT GUILTY!!
Have Batman and Commissioner Gordon been notified yet?
I don't. The simple word "socialism" at the bottom of the poster is better. It's chilling. A lot of people don't get the "Why so...?" reference. I didn't until I looked up the original Batman poster.
They're afraid that the image might be "dangerous" and trigger disrespect for the president.
Actually, they could arrest them with a hate crime and probably convict.
The burden of proof is pretty low.
They would probably claim it was justified in the case of W. But that the One should be exempt from negative cartoons and caricatures. They do need to squeeze Pelosi into a Catwoman costume. Or maybe Andrea Mitchell.
Dissenting with the State is now a crime. Hope and change and all that.
See you in the catacombs!
They don’t like the dissent from Obammunism.
