Hadn't heard that, although there are plenty of hoax theories out there.
If that was a chick in that "suit", she did a wicked good impression of an 800lb 7ft biped with a thick neck. The stride/gait alone is astounding to watch.
Plenty have tried and failed to fake that sequence, without much success.

I check in on BigFoot Forums occaisionally. A creature suit designer from those days is posting his analysis of the film. It makes a fascinating read. In short, an absolute genius designer might be able to fake some parts of it, but the seamless head turn is almost impossible with a suit.
