Is FreeRepublic having server problems

Posted on 08/12/2009 2:03:52 PM PDT by rstrahan

Been having a LOT of problems with connectivity with FreeRepublic. Runs very slow, sometimes drops off. Is FR getting slammed and getting overloaded, or (black helicopter time) is it a conspiracy to interfere with FR?

Same here. I wonder if the Dear Leader’s legions have launched a cyber attack on FR.

Yes, all day. I guess we are just way too popular.

Glad to know it is not my server.

I haven’t noticed it, other than initially having to click twice.

The slow server problem can be solved if you click on the CONTRIBUTE button hard enough!

I hope it’s not an effort to interfere with this site. I hope it’s because, as one woman said at a town hall, that a sleeping giant has been awakened.

And if a sleeping giant is now awake, hopefully lots more people are coming here to see what the conservative point of view on the issues are. Hopefully there’s just lots of new visitors here, not any cyber shenanigans from liberals.

Someone on another thread mentioned a DDoS attack going on against the site yesterday and today.

I told the wife days ago, they will awaken the sleeping giant. JimROb posted yesterday at altfreerepublic that there was a DOS attack.

So where does that phrase "sleeping giant" come from? Adm Yamamoto was asked by the Japanese leadership prior to Pearl Harbor what the attack would accomplish. He replied he could succeed and for several years could run in the Pacific at will but this attack would "awaken the sleeping giant" and a war would ensue that Japan could not win. His advice fell on def ears apparently. The leadership also asked about the feasability of a land invasion of the USA through the west coast. The Japanese generals aware of the hunting and shooting tradition of the West responded no such invasion could succeed because "there will be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

Our current leadership would do well to learn a little more history because they are awakening a sleeping giant and there is a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Jim Rob says it was (is) *denial of service* attacks. Same as with Facebook and Twitter last week.

YES, someone is messing with us.
