Skip to comments. What Would Jesus Do? Ask Obama
Posted on 08/21/2009 11:32:37 AM PDT by thefoundersrock
This week, President Barack Obama claimed his version of health care reform is "a core ethical and moral obligation," beseeching religious leaders to promote his government-run scheme. Questioning the patriotism of opponents, apparently, wasn't gaining the type of traction advocates of "reform" had hoped.

Jesus would simply say “come to me and I will heal you...”
We need to stop calloing him Mr. or President Obama and just call him by his new status: God’s partner.
I await the lunatic fringe of the left to call him a religious zealot and ask why religion is being brought into this.
Has he been to church more than the once at Easter yet???????
or is his vacationing on our dime getting in the way of church
what happened to “government can’t legislate morality”?
MY religion doesn't see any charity in forced taxation.
If Obama says that we must have Obamacare to be Christ-like, then what of those who don't follow Christ? Are they exempt?
You’d have a hard time finding his words there. Actually, Jesus had quite a lot to say about our responsibilities to the poor. What he didn’t demand was that we force others or petition Rome to address their needs. I ain’t no theologian, but in addition to helping the poor meet their needs, it is about us and our spiritual well being. I am to help the less fortunate because I want to please God, and to make their lives better. This comes from our hearts, not a tax code or government program. It has to be done voluntarily, out of Love and compassion, not forced by code of law. I am no Bible scholar, but as a Christian that is my understanding of the scriptures.-—JM
I agree. By the way Deut is where the 10 commandments is, I think
Jesus would state that saving the unborn is also “a core ethical and moral obligation”.
If insurance companies were involved in "child killing", I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem for zero since he voted against born alive infant protection. Zero was exhibiting his proper relationship to JC when he covered the statue of Him at Georgetown. Think he needs to return to that and abandon the Jesus as tool model.
Just in case anybody is mad at me... I’m a newbie! You are supposed to read the piece. It is actually written by a self-described atheist, but it slams BO for his hypocritical invoking of the almighty to sell his plan.
Here’s an excerpt:
While we have no clue what Jesus would make of a public option, we do have plenty of evidence that government tends to act immorally, corruptly, and incompetentlyespecially a government with too much power. And the self-righteous elected official who has complete moral certitude on his side also has a tendency to ignore any other concerns. That detail has been painfully obvious in this debate.
“It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies,” wrote C.S. Lewis, a man who knew a thing or two about religion. “The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
I thought that was pretty good stuff!
It was a good piece, thanks. The fact the author is an atheist just makes the case that zero makes friends from neither side when he pretends to invoke religion in his cause. So once again I wonder what makes lefties think this guy is a good politician.
