Kid Rock set the record Saturday night for the most f-bombs dropped at the State Fair grandstand. Sorry, I quit counting at 20, including his arriving onstage flipping the bird on both hands (and lets not mention the s-bombs).

Kid who?
I dont know what youre talkin about. I saw him in Dallas and he tore the place apart. Had more energy than anyone Ive seen. He can sing, play guitar, drum, and run the turntables. On one of his cd’s he played all of the music. He writes strong lyrics, as well as fun songs.
If you dont like rockers who swear, thats fine. But dont say he has no talent. I dont like Michael W Smith, but I wont say he is untalented.
Nothing quite like blasting “American Badass” while flying down the highway ...
baw-wit-a-baw
Sounds like someone has ‘virgin ears’.
The type of prude person that hears a word they don’t like at work, and goes screaming to HR trying to get someone terminated....
Or out of a C-130 (I think it was) when he was heading to Iraq to perform for the troops, and he signed a bomb for Saddam. The dude is an American through and through.
Wow looking forward to the kid coming to CA..
Thanks for the heads up...
He has supported the troops and we should respect him for that. I think we should save our powder others who deserve our scorn more.

Here is a video of his song "Warrior."

You will have to cut and paste the link. I forget the href link thingy.
pfffft- there hasnt been a decent southern band since skynyrd and allman bros....and while this turd might pal around with hank jr.....the only southern in him is the tick bite on his leg
There’s nothing wrong with Kid Rock, and I while I can understand if someone doesn’t like his music you can’t go to a rock show and then be offended because he uses some bad words. For one thing he uses those words in some of his songs.
A band like Jackyl is a true southern rock band and I’m sure you would be offended by a lot of the stuff they do and say on stage as well.
“All Summer Long” is a jam. I like the Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute sample in it.
Looks like he may be breaking the The United States Flag Code in that picture.
First, the concert I just saw with him was opened by Skynnyrd. Second, he never claimed to be Southern, he is from Michigan. The South doesnt have a franchise on the word redneck. There are hillbillys in PA, MI, WI, NV, ID and even states like CA and NY.
One of my buddies was in the 82nd, and his best friend was from the backwoods in NY. Name was Cletus, seriously. Biggest “redneck” I ever met.
And as far as southern bands go, what about ZZ TOP, The Black Crowes, Pantera, or Stevie Ray Vaughan?
That’s what irritates me so much.. the reason the song is popular is because of the Sweet home Alabam rift.. not anything that Kid rock does in the song. If you are going to get up and try and perform a song like midnight Rider or
Tied to the Whippin post or “One way out” that were legendary songs then you need to make sure that you can pull it off. This guy is patriotic-Yes, he has a good act.. But he is no southerner.. He’s a hip-hop rich kid from Detroit. I’m just sayin..
I thought it was a Werewolves of London sample. Anyway, it’s a great song.
i dont see zz top as southern - rather texan (personally) - same for SRV - both giants in that genre.....fyi - Im in ny and just finish shredding 70# of pork from the smoker 2 nite ;)
That’s not the worst of it. Just so you know, when he talks about painting the sheriff’s wife white in “Cowboy”...he’s not talking about paint.
Most F-bombs go to Chris Rock in his Kill the Messenger show.
Its both. Both songs have virtually the same tempo/beat and chord progressions.
There are really only so many good progressions out there, so when one works, its gonna be “copied” or “stolen” depending on how sensitive the first author is.
I'm a lumberjack, baby.
Yeah, me too (as far as them being Texan). I just get worked up when someone acts like, oh, youre not from Georgia so you cant act like a redneck or be Southern Rock. To me, The Band, some of Neil Young, and BTO had Southern Rock attributes, and they are from Canada. But most people dont realize the middle provinces in Canada are a lot like the Dakotas, Mt, Wy, Mn and other plains states politically and socially.
And the pork sounds good.
Yeah, I remember before the invasion of Iraq he said, “Saddam Hussein - we gotta get that F**ker!”. The Kid gets straight to the point.
bttt
SRV never got up on stage and rapped that I ever heard.
That’s because he was awesome! He did his thing and did it very well. texas was a Confederate state.
Well, you might be half-right. It is a great sample but the song is well-written, great piece about being young and in love. Even without the sample, I think the song would have still been successful.
But he is no southerner.. Hes a hip-hop rich kid from Detroit. Im just sayin..
Yes he did start out in hip-hop (back when rock and hip-hop was being fused together by groups like Korn and Limp Bizkit) and I'll agree with you there. He's not my cup of tea either.
I always cringe whenever someone says "prude" because it seems to be used to excuse bad behavior. Look at an extreme case. Suppose you know someone who says "f***" this and that in virtually every sentence. Everything is a sexual reference. You object, and he says you're a prude. Are you?
This isn't an issue of prudishness, but respect for others. I would expect better at a state fair.
As for me, I'm tired of the national culture going downhill. How long before concerts have obligatory live sex acts on stage? Right outside an apartment I used in Barcelona there were guys having sex with prostitutes. This wasn't any seedy area, either, but in one of the most well-known and expensive areas in the city. It's coming here soon. But don't object, you prudes!

USS Cole, bombed by terrorists:
http://www.newsweek.com/id/80257/output/print
“At night as he lay on deck, Peterschmidt was heartened by the sight of the ship’s flag, its soot-covered battle ensign, still flying. On Oct. 22, 10 days after the bombing—and after the last dead sailor had been taken off the ship—the crew lowered the flag and ran up a new one. A week later, as the ship prepared to sail out of Aden under tow, Captain Lippold ordered a medley of patriotic songs to be played as the crew stood at attention. First came the “Star Spangled Banner.” Then, to Lippold’s surprise, a rap song entitled “American Badass” by Kid Rock blared out of the loudspeakers. The captain angrily turned to Peterschmidt. “I got that look that said, ‘XO, fix it’,” recalled Peterschmidt. The executive officer ran off to yell at the crew to stop the music. But then he stopped, and let the song of defiance play on.”
...but you might be Standing Alone today...
George Harrison tried that with “My Sweet Lord” and it cost him 5 mil. Sounded enough like “He’s So Fine” that the judge told him to pay up.
Im just sayin SRV was a southerner after Skynnyrd.
No one is forced to go to a Kid Rock concert. When you go to a rock concert you can’t get offended by language, especially when the person uses the same language in many of his songs.
Did you ever read the lyrics of “On the hunt” by Skynyrd? May not have the F bomb, but it’s obvious what Ronnie Van Zant was hunting. “A piece...of action.”
Kid Rock’s no Skynyrd, but he’s better than 90% of what’s out there today, and he never claimed to be Southern. He’s a good ole boy out of Northern Macomb County. There’s plenty of Rednecks north of M-59.
He’s influenced by Skynyrd, and KISS, and Bob Seger, and Ted Nugent, Hank Williams, rap, and just about everything.
LOL. Michigan has a lot of redneck, but we’re woodsmen (me) or farmboys, not hillbillies. :)
ROFL - ever hear of Woodstock?
Arena Rock concerts in the 70s used to have sex on stage and in the crowds.
Hey, I'm just sayin....
I drop an 'F-Bomb' now and again, but I tend to not use it around others in a professional setting, or around people I don't know well. I don't personally care if someone uses the word around me. If they use it excessively, along with other 'slang' type words, I appreciate the fact they are telling me they are dumb asses, in an indirect sort of way.
"As for me, I'm tired of the national culture going downhill."
So am I, but "bad language" doesn't bother me. However, I do agree that such language isn't appropriate for a state fair. I'm sure many families with children go to such things. I wouldn't want my kids at a place with a PA system blasting some guy saying such things at 120 decibels.
Yeah. Thats why I said it depends on how sensitive the artist is. A real artist, not a musician or pop star, but artist will understand that he didnt create the music, he just discovered it in that pattern the way a scientist discovers that gravity works.
No one invented the G-C-D chord progression (I-IV-V). Its been around for ever, and there is only so many tempos this can be played to. And if it sounds good, a real artist will appreciate it, not sue to protect it.
Ok, Ill agree to that. Growing up in Texas, I used to think you had to be from the south to be a redneck, and my dad from Indiana always said Michigan was full of hillbillies, maybe he was exaggerating a bit.
Wouldnt the problem be with the promoter of the state fair then. If its a state fair, why did they hire Kid Rock?
I hope your not a dude...seriously what kind of whining is this over cursing...you sound like a fruity lib
Although I was referring more to the natives. We just talk different, but outside of some ethnic backgrounds, there really is not a lot of difference that I see between the rural areas in Michigan or the rural areas in the south, and I've spent a lot of time in both areas.
Have you seen this one?

Speaking of the “F” bombs, you ever been to a Ted Nugent concert?
