SNIPPET: "In 1967, at the Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California, World History teacher Ron Jones was asked about the Holocaust by a student. "Could it happen here?".
According to the press release accompanying the latest retelling of the events that followed, "Jones came up with an unusual answer. He decided to have a two week experiment in dictatorship. His idea was to explain fascism to his class through a game, nothing more. He never intended what resulted, where his class would be turned into a Fascist environment. Where students gave up their freedom for the prospect of being superior to their neighbors.
Monday morning he straightened the classroom, dimmed the lights and played Wagnerian music. The word "discipline" was written on the blackboard. He then had the students sit up straight in their chairs with hands placed flat across the small of their backs. In this setting, he devoted the remainder of the class to the topic of discipline.
By the second day, Jones developed a special greeting, a wave. It became known as the Third Wave, and if students saw each other outside class, they were to use it. In his lectures, Jones went from "discipline," to "strength through community," and then to "strength through action."
By midweek, his "experiment" expanded to sixty students, and by the week's end, more than two hundred were participating. Other teachers and the school's principal stood by and watched.
The first sign of concern came when some students had taken it uponthemselves to report others who did not conform. After just four days, things got out of hand. Jones feared for the safety of a few students who refused to participate. To his dismay and alarm, the experiment was so blindly embraced by the students, that he cut the project short. "Initially I just wanted to show my students how powerful the pressure to belong can be, but the exercise got out of control. A momentum began to build that I couldn't slow, or even deter. I became frightened by the day-to-day happenings in class, and was forced to call it off," recalls Jones.
Overnight, Jones became the subject of national controversy, sparking discussion on the appropriateness of exposing young adults to life's realities. To some, he was an innovative hero and teacher; to others he was a Communist. Many people were shocked and embarrassed that the same mentality which led to the Holocaust could develop so quickly, in 1967, in a pristine all-American setting, and an academic town no less, home to the well-known Stanford University."

Ping to this post.
Thanks!
A movie screen rolls down, and on it, an image of Hitler speaking to a massive crowd appears. The fascist little brats that were—just minutes before—arrogant pubescent brownshirts (OK, I think they were blue), were soon sobbing and most were horrified.
As far as After School Specials went, that one was pretty good. Obviously, it stuck with me.
How could a couple of million Good German citizens be wrong?
Those that don't know history are doomed to fulfill Einsteins definition of insanity.
I think Obama's Hopey Changey symbol even looks a bit like the one in the movie.
At the time- I didn't realize the film was based on a actual event. Chilling.
I think we all need to watch this again, and kids need to see it too.
I remember some PST—public school teacher—did a lesson about the Holocaust a few years ago, and had the Jewish students wear yellow stars around school so they could be singled out. Suffice to say, it did not go well...

Obama Recruiting Radicals in High Schools (Freedom isn’t free...Fight Back!)
Big Government ^ | January 31, 2010 | Pamela Geller
Posted on February 1, 2010 1:23:23 AM PST by yoe
Barack Obama is using our public school system to recruit for his Alinsky-inspired private army. Organizing for America (OFA), formerly Obama For America, is recruiting in our high schools to build on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda that is, his agenda of socialism for the United States of America.
Chuck, a reader of my website AtlasShrugs.com, has a daughter in the eleventh grade in a public high school, Perry Local in Massillon, Ohio. The teacher in her government class passed out a propaganda recruiting paper headed with Obamas distinctive O logo asking students to sign up as interns for Organizing for America. You can see the entire intern recruiting form at (AtlasShrugs.com.)
And what will these interns be force-fed? The mothers milk of the left anti-war agitation, anti-capitalism, Marx, Lenin, Ayers, LGBT agenda promotion, global warming, pro-jihad, and illegal immigration. For starters. Maybe Ellie Light, who has in the last few weeks published the same Letter to the Editor supporting and defending Obama in over a dozen newspapers across the country, can give lessons in astroturfing.
The form carries a recommended reading list, including Rules for Radicals by the notorious hard left community organizer and Obama mentor Saul Alinsky; two Huffington Post articles by Zack Exley, The New Organizers and Obama Field Organizers Plot a Miracle. The first of those, published in October 2008, enthuses about an insurgent generation of organizers inside the Obama campaign that has, almost without anyone noticing built the Progressive movement a brand new and potentially durable peoples organization, in a dozen states, rooted at the neighborhood level.
