city authorities were so anxious to appoint Pachelbel to the position that they officially invited him to assume it without holding the usual job examination or inviting applications from prominent organists from lesser churches. He accepted, was released from Gotha in 1695, and arrived in Nuremberg in summer, with the city council paying his per diem expenses. Sweet gig.

Thanks for the nice little Sunday morning concert.
The music is very serene. I pictured myself alone on a ship's deck as dawn breaks taking in the ocean's gentle swells as they stretch out to the horizon.
Hot, steamy coffee in hand, of course.

"First Sunday Music - Pachelbel" Sometimes classical music lovers, or musicians, lack humor regarding the same.
But if y'all want to see and hear one of the funniest pieces of club comedy in the world, watch "Pachelbel Rant" by Rob Paravonian. He's witty and clever and you have to hear it a couple times to really get the full degree of humor. He's also correct in his assessment ... you'll need to listen and watch to understand what I mean.

Canon in D Minor is my favorite song of all time ever.
Christmas or not, it’s a beautiful piece.

Among violinists it’s just “the Canon”. A rite of passage.
One of the most beautiful pieces ever written but “Pachelbel Rant” referred to above is understood. Starving musicians have to play it so much at the many wedding gigs they do that it can drive them nuts.
I never get tired of it.
