World's Oldest Person Dies At 115: Ate Steady Diet of...Bacon
directorblue.blogspot.com ^ | Sept. 11, 2009 | Doug Ross

Reliapundit alerts us to breaking news:

Gertrude Baines, who lived to be the world's oldest person on a steady diet of crispy bacon, fried chicken and ice cream, died Friday at a nursing home. She was 115. Baines, who remarked last year that she enjoyed life so much she wouldn't mind living another 100 years, died in her sleep, said Emma Camanag, administrator at Western Convalescent Hospital.

The centenarian likely suffered a heart attack, said her longtime physician, Dr. Charles Witt. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.

...Staff at Baines' nursing home described her as a modest woman who liked to watch the "Jerry Springer Show" and eat fried chicken, bacon and ice cream. She refused to use dentures.

"I don't know how she does it. She only has her gums, no teeth," said Susie Exconde, the nursing director who found Baines dead in her bed at about 7:25 a.m...

Mmm......... bacon.

We grew up frying bacon and then cooking our eggs in the bacon grease.

And it tasted wonderful!!!

I did too. Maybe that’s why I’ve had two triple bypasses.

Autopsy? Why?

Because it's not every day you get to cut open a 115 year old man and see what there is to see.

Ghoulish, but that's my take on it.

Should I feel bad for finding that funny?

Unlikely - you probably had the bypasses because you believed the crap the white coats fed you..my uncle has 3 eggs and 1/2 pound of bacon every morning for breakfast...he’s 85 and fit as you know what..do you take a packet of at least 8 vitamin pills, phyto-nutrients, digestive enzynes, etc. every day? I do, and never felt better.. and I eat fats and eggs and steaks every day...my doctor can’t figure it out, but he’s a white coat...

The whitecoats had nothing to do with my angina pectoris. The first time (1983), it was so bad, I couldn’t even walk up the stairs. I had the bypass on 5-25-83; one hundred days later, I was running through the streets of Baghdad with the Hash House Harriers. I ran almost every day for 16 years, and walked five-six miles daily after I gave up jogging. I got 25 years out of that first bypass. Hope I can get that much out of #2. I still love bacon and eggs, but regulate my intake of them. Bacon is my favorite food of all time. I hope some ice cream company comes up with a flavor called bacon/peanut butter/mango swirl.

Great cooks know that bacon rules. Lots of delicious dishes begin with dicing and frying bacon. MMMM....bacon. Is it too late for a little bacon and eggs before bed? Yes it is.

Well look on the bright side, it wasn’t fried pepperoni and eggs.

Dad had six bypasses when he was 70, now 85 and doing OK.

Gave up the pepperoni, still has bacon and eggs.

Ohmmmyyyyyyyy .... that cracks me up. My Dad, 3 years ago at 91 had a heart attack .... the only time he has ever been in the hospital. He was having a difficult time during convalescence and 2 months later Dr. finally diagnosed that his recuperation problems weren’t age related but chemical. Dr. told him to restart smoking again ... within a week he was up and at em. (a 2 pack a day habbit since age 14)

He still gardens 3 acres ... hauls bushels and bushels of tomatoes, beans, cukes sweet corn to the local nursing home for their. And he still smokes like a chimney.

As for me ... I had my normal powerlifters breakfast this morning ... 9 eggs, 4 sauasage patties, bowl of oatmeal with cinamon, a whole fresh tomatoe, glass of whole milk, a pot of coffee and .....1/2 grapefruit (do all things in moderation)

My lifting routine followed an hour later for the precise duration of 47 minutes ... I will have a bowl of cottage cheese and a fresh peach at 10:00 followed by a CAO Criollo Conquistadore’ (a fine stogey) The rest of the day is Saturday yard work. woohooo

A toast to health, and good living

We know this story must be a hoax because we have it on the authority of the food nazis er experts that eating meat will kill you before you’re thirty. So obviously this woman is a mythical oldie as are all the other centenarians who actually didn’t live to be one hundred. How in the world did people from the early twentieth century and before manage to survive without the likes of David Pollan and others to tell them what to eat? (smirk)
