Raleigh, N.C. — A Winston Salem woman was killed Friday night in a wreck at Lead Mine and Strickland roads in Raleigh.
Elena Bright Shapiro, 20, of 28 Cascade Ave. in Winston Salem, was driving a Hyundai at about 8:30 p.m. when the vehicle was struck from behind by a Mercedes on Strickland Road, authorities said. Raymond Dwight Cook, 40, of 10516 Beckridge Lane in Raleigh, was driving the Mercedes at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred, authorities said.

One of my daughters is 20 years old. I don’t know what I would do other than cry out to the Lord to ease my aching heart.
May the Lord bring comfort and solace in this time of grief and sorrow, to you, and especially your brother and his girlfriend’s family.
As for the man that killed her, may the Lord do a work in his heart. I can’t imagine being him right now.

Cameron is my second son / fourth child. He’s extremely distraught over this; he and Elena were talking marriage.
I rounded him up yesterday, along with my youngest (7 year old son), and took them to a local lake for a long walk in a beautiful, natural setting on a gorgeous day. We walked, fed ducks and geese, etc. I just let him talk it out, cry it out, question, rail, vent....deal with his grief. It helped; he truly knows we’re all here for him. Breaks my heart to see him (and her family) have to endure this. The love of his family, friends, and the Lord will get him through it.

Thank you, Chris, for posting this. Thank you, Everyone, for your prayers! Cameron’s church family at Living Word Family Church, Raleigh, NC, is also on their knees and are very supportive of him. She was a beautiful, sweet girl with a precious, precious heart and will be terribly missed. Please pray also for Dr. Cook, the man responsible for this and his family as well! It would be safe to say that they need the Lord to move in their lives as well.
Horrible news. I am praying for your brother, her family, and the person who caused the wreck. I will also be sure to appreciate every breath that God gives me and my family and friends.
