Serena Williams Makes A Fool Of Herself And Deserves Punishment
Serena Williams offered no apology and showed no remorse for her behavior during her U.S. Open semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters, 6-4, 7-5.
Her tirade toward U.S. Open to lineswoman goes beyond those of McEnroe and Nastase in earlier days, especially as she shows no remorse. She should be heavily fined and suspended.
Bill Dwyre. September 13, 2009
Let's get right to the point. Serena Williams should be fined heavily and suspended for a while from the pro tennis tour.
FOR THE RECORD: A column in Sunday's Sports section about Serena Williams' loss in the U.S. Open semifinals said Williams' outburst at a lineswoman began when she was called for a foot fault on her first serve at 15-40. Actually, Williams was called for a foot fault on her second serve at 15-30.
Let's see what kind of guts the normally soft-on-discipline sport of tennis has this time. If she were an Oregon football player, she'd be out for the season.
If you saw it on television, you know what happened, you know that she made a fool out of herself Saturday night in an ugly incident at the U.S. Open. If you didn't see it, we'll confirm it:
The quick details are:
* She was given a point penalty on match point, which meant she lost her semifinal to Kim Clijsters, 6-4, 7-5.
* She was given the point penalty because, after a linesperson called a foot fault on her first serve at 15-40, she went over to the linesperson, shook her fist at her, and from just several feet away, said, according to several witnesses courtside, "You don't know me. You better be right. I could shove this ball down your throat." Interspersed with this were several F-bombs.

She’s the female version of John Mac Enroe.
In another thread they said she was fined $10,000
That is, what, 32 seconds’ income lost?
How long before Obama intervenes?
MacEnroe never behaved that badly.
“Serena Williams Makes A Fool Of Herself...”
More like an “arrogant thug”.
She needs to be suspended.
A Judge claimed, the animal told her, “I will kill you”.
Who the hell does she thinks she is? The President
Now, now. We must be tolerant of her bad behavior. We do not understand what her people have suffered. Lest we be thought of as racists.(sarc).
I think that’s not the end of it. An inquiry into suspending her will follow.
I think Serena should be given a chance to “recalibrate” her words
A Michele wanna be!
>>A Judge claimed, the animal told her, I will kill you.<<
I say the whole thing on TV (sports coverage). She said “I will shove this f’ing ball down your f’ing throat!”
Not a death threat, but a threat of violence. Even McEnroe never actually threatened a judge.
She should be suspended for a LOOOONG time.
LMAO! Sadly thats exactly what anyone who condemns her primate behavior will be called.
...Obama claimed that the tennis police “acted stupidly”.
She’s an animal. A ghetto thug. Her abuse of this judge using the “F” word, “S” word and others that don’t even deserve mentions was cause for more than a paltry $10,000 fine.
It won’t happen. Within two days there will be claims she was a victim of racism. Count on it.
She never apologized. That, to me, speaks volumes about her character. Or lack thereof.
You are exactly correct. I would bet good money on it. How far we have fallen.
Like many others, I just finished watching the women's final match. The class and grace exhibited by those two young women, both on the court and after the match, is what should be celebrated.
Don't care if Serena is an American ... she does not deserve to be supported by Americans. She is a nothing more than a foul-mouthed thug that can't control her emotions or temper, and can't even seem to come up with an apology or an ounce of regret.
Or maybe Kayne West? This guy is equally classless. He interrupted Taylor Swifts acceptance speech on 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. You can view it here. You will probably need to scroll down the page a bit to view the video. West and Williams are both absolutely classless.
So I heard an explaination from this thug. She said that she didn’t think the line judge understood that it was a match point. WHAT A COMPLETE A_HOLE! As if that makes any difference. If she stepped on the line she stepped on the line. The rules of tennis do not change subject to the importance of a point. Neither do the rules regarding player behavior. Obviously SHE knew what points were at stake, and yet she still (reportedly) stepped on the line and abused an official. Now she wants to blame the official. She is a real class act.
Or the Justice Brothers ? (Rev's Al and Jesse)
I really hope she is suspended, but it should’ve happened already. She’s playing doubles tomorrow. It’s outrageous.
Doncha know who she was... she actually has to NOT FOOT FAULT... oh my gawd!!!
Then she acted like, with a frickin smirk on her face.., "gee, I don't know why she'd be afraid of me...I've never even been in a fight.".
Well how about the fact that you're about 8 inches taller, 70 to 90 pounds heavier and could f'ing sit on her with your fat a## and squash the woman... but you had a racquet in your hand and were shaking it at her and threatening to shove it down her "f#$@ing throat"...
Nah... no reason to feel threatened. What world does this diva wanna be think she lives in?
Serena and Kanye are getting married. They both deserve each other.
They’re getting married in Las Vegas at the Low Class Trash Chapel of Scum Love.
I wonder if they could both be “racists”? Nah, they’re “African Hyphen American’s”, they can’t be “racists”. Can they?
I actually backed up the DVR and hit record so that I could review it over again. She told the line judge "I feel like taking this ball and shoving it down your fu**ing throat ... do you hear me? I swear to God you made me mad and (unintelligible) you ought to be fu**king glad that (something about the point) ...
"Not a death threat, but a threat of violence."
The words about killing the judge didn't come at that time (if they ever came). Serena had gone back to the baseline to serve and when the line judge got back to her chair, Serena suddenly pointed at her again, moved in her direction a few steps, repeatedly jabbed her finger at the judge and said something that didn't come through on the audio. THAT is when the little judge ran back to the net area and the tournament official said "what did she say?". THAT is when the judge reported the death threat and everyone got really concerned.
Given Serena's body language and her size as compared to the line judge, there was definitely a reason to be unnerved.
Do they test women players for steroids? Her body cannot be obtained simply from working out.
Chump change, will have no effect on her, she should be suspended for a while to make her really digest her behavior, right now I don’t think the tennis world, fans and athletes alike, think too highly of her at the moment. Wonder what the fan reaction will be like tomorrow when she shows up to play there in lib mecca N.Y.?
Like father; Apple...tree.....
She’s the top female player representing our country. When you’re running down my country, hoss...
Body by Steroids.
They will take it from the $350,000 check they are handing her for making the semifinals.
It would be easy to find out because all they have to do is start random hair, urine and blood testing all year like cyclists and watch what Serena's body becomes after a year of strict testing.
Eh.. but that would be too easy, not politically correct and go against the big minority/politically correct push by the USTA.
Sure makes you wonder whose names are in the Balco case..... but gee, what are the chances of a girl from Compton California getting a hold of the "clear" or some other androgen/growth hormone precursor? Then maybe finding masking agents that are either diuretics or substances to alkalanize your urine in order to mask tests....
I'm just curious.... lots of anger this week at the US Open by Serena.
How can a female have arms like those?
“I think thats not the end of it. An inquiry into suspending her will follow”.
...Obama claimed that the tennis police acted stupidly.
The good news is she is not reproducing.
I would not put it past him. Probably call it a teachable moment.
Hey Barack, stick your teachable moments where the sun doesn’t shine. Would have used don’t but I can’t stand ebonics.
Thanks for looking/listening to the whole thing.
You are right — Venus we be an intimidating foe for a lot of the GUYS on this board, much less a regularly built female judge.
Okay, that pic is just SCARY.
