Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
|New Zealander builds Hobbit hole
A New Zealand man has built a Hobbit house.
Carl Gifford, a stonemason from Wellington, says he used a 10-tonne digger to make the hole.
He's put rocks either side of the front door and plans to install a chimney and lantern on top.
He told the Evening Post he was embarrassed as he was constructing the home.
He said: "I must admit I was hiding as the cars were driving past. I thought, 'These people think I'm an idiot'."
The house is part of a series of stonework mounds, designs and sculptures dotted around his land.
"I'm just having a bit of fun. Things that were built by those ancient people like caves have always fascinated me."
Come on! Come in!
Oh! Nice new Hole this morning!!
If Corin is closest to the bathroom, I want the room closest to the kitchen.
Sorry I haven't been on here much of late... I'll try to stay in touch better. Been busy with our horse forum, and not real active here...
Here's a recent picture I took of Wicket, one of the kittens from last year, stalking the horses when I had them in the yard.
The three kittens we kept from those litters have only just recently been let out - to be free cats, and learn to climb trees...
38! Hokey smokes!
Huh? what? I am awake!
no wait I lied.... zzzzz
Nice new shiny thread! Thanks for the ping!
How’s Homer’s medication working?
Slowing down but still chugging along after all these years...
WooHoo! A nice, tidy new Hobbit Hole! I’ll have to go back and read “The Hobbit”. It’s been years since I read it last!
It will be fun discussing the movie stuff, as we get more info about it.
The story of muh life.
Good morning, everyone!
60 AND 70 thousand replies?
Well that makes me feel a little better about myself.
Happy to help.
I would say the jury's still out. He still itches, but he will still itch some as the outbreaks heal. I'd like to think this stuff will work, but we're just not sure yet that it is. ~Everyone~ is starting to itch now too, so we're going to treat everyone for fleas too, tomorrow, just to be sure we're covering all the bases.
I can't go get the stuff today because my new computer is arriving today!
This old Dell I'm typing on is a decade old. It's really been a workhorse. I'll be a little sad to retire it, but it's failing, and it is slow, and hubby has talked me into a shiny new one.
Hullo! Good morning... :-)
Could ya keep it down? I heard this place open way over on a different forum! ;)
Don’t blame me, it’s the baby doing all the fussing.
I know your face...
Mebbe if Corin took off his boots once and awhile . . . oh, waitaminute . . . nevermind that, stinking dwarf socks are worse than crying babies. At least babies are cute.
How's mommmyhood treating you?
Not too badly. She’s very snuggly and not quite crawling yet so it’s not very hard so far. Another year or so before we start her on differential equations.
see more dog and puppy pictures
Already? Seems like we just barely got thawed out!
My new computer is here! My new computer is here!
Shouldn't that be "Hole-y smokes"?
Woohoo! fun in a box!!!
Yes! And I think I’m going to leave it in the box till hubby comes home and sets it up for me.
I need to pack up and sort through my stuff on the old one anyhow.
I saw it a couple of weeks ago and it's now one of my favorite movies. Very funny.
Hello all :)
Hello all :)
No - can’t say I’m even familiar with it, but we’ll look for it! We like funny :~)
Our new favorite is a Coen... Burn After Reading. If you like Fargo and the Big Leboswki, you’ll like this one. Great dialogue and quirky characters, particularly Brad Pitt. :~)
You can say that again ;~)
Although sitting next to my daughter while Clooney unveiled his "invention" was a bit uncomfortable.
Yes.... That thing is uncomfortable no matter who you’re with... ;~)
Haha..just to make it sure it went the first time!
Looking forward to The Hobbit! (film)
I haz a plot, and an outline, and an opening scenario...
Wow they have really pale sand there. and not much grass...
I am trying to decide between redoing last years, writing part two of the year before, or coming up with something else entirely. What did I do with that plot involving aliens kidnapping a filmmaker... hmm
Nope, but I’m re-writing some history. Or at least embellishing it. I’ll worry about plausibility on the re-write...
Recent history? Or alternate timeline stuff?
Last 50-60 years. Not alternate timeline.
I just need for some events to happen that may not exactly fit history. Nothing supernatural.
Plot? Crap. Knew I was forgetting something.
