CBS scored an across-the-board ratings triumph with its new cops & lawyers combo.
The series debuts of new procedurals "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "The Good Wife" delivered impressive premiere ratings and won their hours, while returning veteran "NCIS" was the night's highest-rated show.
The second day of the broadcast season was marked by an unusual quartet of two-hour blocks: Two hours of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" vs. two hours of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" vs. two hours of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" against two hours of CBS' "NCIS" (well, "NCIS" and its spinoff).
Starting off the night for CBS, the original "NCIS" (20 million viewers, 4.6 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) returned huge -- up 28% in the demo, though its total viewer number is particularly jaw dropping. This a series high for "NCIS" -- which is in its seventh year.

What did Leno get??
NBC is falling apart. They barely managed to get a 1/3 of the CBS audience in any of the prime-time slots. Can't say that I'm all busted up about, then again, CBS is just as leftist as them. There's really no one to root for here.
Anyone know if NCIS will be rebroadcast?
6.5 million viewers which equaled a 2.4 share. In short, Jay's doing about double (a little more) than he was doing in late night, but he's scrapping the bottom of the barrel in prime-time. He got beat handily by both ABC and CBS.
They ruined the Unit by showing one episode every two to three weeks then having story lines that went all over the place. The numbers for the show were not bad so who to blame for this?
Headline:
Leno soundly defeats CW network
FOX swept Monday night with a 2hr “House” - best series show on TV.
Likely you can get it off the website....
Don’t forget - RUSH is on Leno Thursday.
NBC is also MSNBC. We should be happy if they fall first.
The NCIS original was great. I taped it on my DVD recorder. The NCIS spin-off; not so great IMO. The characters aren't as likable, the writing isn't as sassy. Two different shows, and I'll stick with the first. That's the only show on TV I watch.
I agree that the story telling was suspect, especially the last year - although it was better at the end.
The Unit consistently out-performed every other drama that NBC had, and I believe almost everyone that ABC had. Why they canceled it, is lost on me.
Do a Google search for NCIS online. You may be able to find a port that broadcasts it.
And that was an excellent 2 hours of TV. They outdid themselves, I felt like I was watching One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest or Captain Newman MD. The cast of characters was outstanding!
On the other hand, they ended the last season with the promotion of Colonel, meaning they'd need a new CO. Maybe they didn't want to have to make cast changes, story line changes, etc. that come with new characters?

I like NCIS now NCIS Los Angeles it was okay
I saw Good wife that chic tv show
It was a borderline show that did okay in it’s time slot but it wasn’t a HR hitter. They could have brought it back. Sunday nights are a tough night. What happens when the game runs late? The schedule gets pushed back so much that the 10:00 show can wind up running up to 40 minutes behind.
We liked it also. Though a few of last year's plots were pretty thin.
Another we liked was 'E-Ring'. Canceled.
NCIS LA struck me as just another LA cop show. Bleh.
Felt like I was right there with Harmon in camoflage when he was picking off the scum.....
Ice T (I think that’s the right name” does NOT strike me as a SEAL.
Mark Harmon definitely DOES hit home as a Marine sniper.
Yep.
Sunday evening there was little on (IMHO). Knowing the wife likes to watch "Criminal Minds" I turned to that so it would be on when she came home from work (she had to close her store). We sat and watched, and all the while I was comparing to NCIS.
I like NCIS because of the characters, good story lines and great writing. Criminal Minds, OTH, was maudlin to the point of being obsessively humorless. Everyone wore long faces. No one laughed, no one chided another. No one had fun. It was as if the world had lost its smile. I couldn't stand it.
Last night I made the comparison between the two shows. My wife nodded her head but said nothing. I know she'll continue watching, but she now knows I won't. I guess I've created my breathing space...
And he's fast, too. He covered the several hundred yards from his snipers hide to the compound in seconds!
I wasn’t sure about the spin-off. But after a little bit it drew me in. I will have to see a few more shows to really form an opinion, but it was entertaining. NCIS Rocked!
And he wasn’t even winded!
Liked the Unit too. Didn’t see the spinoff but thought last nights NCIS was one of their best ever. Who knew Tony could act - wide range of emotions, attitudes etc. last night.
Yeah, I noticed that. But mixing scenes could imply events occuring over time. The one question I had, what happened to the pistol the bad guy had? Did either McGee or DeNozo pick it up? If so, why couldn't they have taken out the two guys that tried to prevent their leaving?
McGee picked it up, but didn't fire away.
Thanks! I completely missed that.
And that was an excellent 2 hours of TV. They outdid themselves, I felt like I was watching One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest or Captain Newman MD. The cast of characters was outstanding!

Captain Newman, MD - the flock of sheep and the salami Tony Curtis scammed !!!
Yeah, Tony Curtis had the best role in that movie, IMO, but Eddie Albert also played a pretty good mental patient, as did Bobby Darren and Robert Duvall. Gregory Peck and Angie Dickinson were definitely overshadowed by Curtis’ performance.
You're correct about there being "no one to root for here."
That's why I don't watch any of the corrupt "broadcast" networks. I don't remember when I last watched a ABC, CBS, or NBC program --- any program. All of their programs come across to me as stupid and a waste of time.
You can watch it on CBS.com, and maybe Hulu.
After reviewing my memory banks, I think the director kind of buffaloed an unspecified amount of time in the sequence. I think we were supposed to sense a time lapse between when the first guy is shot (and the second - dang memory banks!) and when Dinozo and McGee come out of the door carrying Ziva (didn’t she walk in under the slender, effeminate terrorist honcho’s assistance just a few minutes before)?
Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!!
The more I think about it, the sloppier the ending starts to appear!!!
The Unit has been canceled? Didn’t know...
Not sure that matters. Leno's cost are so much lower he still comes out ahead.
I used to watch The Unit too and was sorry to see it go.
NCIS-LA... I think Im in love: Daniela Ruah as Kensi Blye.
The Unit has been canceled? Didnt know...

I think it went to UPN ...
But that probably does explain how he gets the boats out of his basement.
Nope, it's now out of production, completely. When it was first canceled by CBS, there were some negotiations to keep it in production and syndicate it for a fifth season, but that fell through in late spring.
Incidentally, UPN went out of business several years ago when it merged with the WB network to become the new "CW".
All of my favorite shows are available on any set in the house via "On Demand" which stores the last 4 episodes of every show.
There are also no tiers for having various channels available.
