An invitation to join Dame Shirley Bassey at the Ritz Casino is not to be ignored - reports The Times. After unveiling her new album, The Performance, we ask the Welsh wonder, 72, if she is ready to return glamour and hummability to that much abased commodity, the James Bond theme tune.

Anything would be better than the last "Bond Theme" from the White Stripes.
Actually, any Bond movie would be better than the last one - what a letdown after Casino Royale!

As long as we never see the horrors of previous Bond crooners like Sheryl Crow and Madonna.

I would like them to do a Bond movie based on the NOVELS ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and ‘You only live Twice’.

Agreed. Madonna’s was probably the worst by far.
The Casino Royale one was good. I also really like The World Is Not Enough by Garbage.
Aha’s Living Daylights was okay to good. Duran Duran View to a Kill was so so.

I got to see Shirley Bassey at a dinner show in Puerto Rico many, many years ago. Can't recall what her hits were back then, Light My Fire?
After that I read that she developed a debilitating disease and you never heard much about her from then on.

Duran Duran was a product of the times, like Live and Let Die. Not bad. And better than the movie. Moore looked 70 years old and Tanya Roberts was a disaster.

I actually like John Barry’s Instrumental from “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” Carley Simon’s,”Nobody Doesn’t it Better”, and Gladys Kight’s “Licence to Kill”.

LOL! Moore did look 70 years old. Tanya Roberts was cardboard but looked good. Was this the one with Christopher Walken?

I actually like John Barrys Instrumental from On Her Majestys Secret Service Carley Simons,Nobody Doesnt it Better, and Gladys Kights Licence to Kill. All good. The worst ever, IMHO, are "All Time High" by Rita Coolidge, "Tomorrow Never Dies" by Sheryl Crow and "Die Another Day" by Madonna.

I thought I saw somewhere she is still performing?
Maybe I should link a 007 webpage with ALL of the songs

Yes, That was Lois Maxwell’s last Bond movie as well (may she rest in peace).

Gosh, I had to Google him! Knew the songs but forgot his name! Wonderful songs he composed.
[John Barry Prendergast, born on 3 November 1933 in York, England) is an English film score composer. He is best known for composing 11 James Bond soundtracks and was hugely influential on the 007 series’ distinctive style.]

Lois was quite a lady...
Always an adventurous woman, she held a pilots licence, regularly went on safari and in the 1980s sailed the South China Sea from Hong Kong to Singapore, armed with M16 machine guns and incendiary rockets to ward off pirates.

For some reason I can’t recall the sound of that song. I’ll have to do a Google on the lyrics.
I believe devolve will link a webpage as he has all the James Bond songs on webpages.

I always thought James Horner should have given a Bond theme song a try.
To: buccaneer81
The John Barry instrumental from OHMSS is one of my favorites. “All Time High” was forgettable. I like Gladys Knight’s “License to Kill” and Sheena Easton’s “For Your Eyes Only”.
While not the best of the movies, Shirley Bassey’s redention of “Moonraker” I thought was really done well, especially the end-title disco version of the theme song. Of course “Goldfinger” is the best IMO.

Yes, VTAK had Walken as "Zorin," who I called "Urine" as a child.
Moore should have been retired after "The Spy Who Loved Me."
Timothy Dalton = Zzzzzzz...

Chris always hams it up but he is a riot. One of his bad girls in the movie was a tall blond that was hot. I am NOT talking about Grace Jones.
Her name is Alison Doody and she is Irish. She looks like Catherine Denuve. Stunning.

I enjoyed For Your Eyes Only, although it had Bond basically acting the part of pedophile.
BTW: Thanks for mentioning FYEO. Now I will have the Sheena Easton theme song in my head for a week.

Sean Connery was long on the tooth in Diamonds Are Forever with Jill St. John who was somewhat long on the tooth too.
Dalton = nice guy - not a good Bond. Moore was almost as bad.

No Casino Royale II on that one

Madonna’s song was pretty close to Rita’s nightmare. What made it worse is they casted Madonna in the film which just about wrecked it.
They used a soft focus lens to hide her age. I was expecting Doris Day on screen. I think they used it on Doris to hide her freckles.
