Atkins, 61, becomes the first of the Charles Manson followers on life sentences to die while in California prisons. She died Thursday night as the longest-serving female inmate in the state. Atkins was convicted in the 1969 murders at the home of actress Sharon Tate in Benedict Canyon and the Loz Feliz home of Rosemary and Leno LaBianca. Atkins, raised in San Gabriel, killed Tate while the pregnant 26-year-old actress was tied with a rope tossed over a ceiling beam. "I was stoned, man, stoned on acid," Atkins testified during the penalty phase of her trial. "I don't know how many times I stabbed (Tate) and I don't know why I stabbed her. She kept begging and pleading and begging and pleading and I got sick of listening to it, so I stabbed her." ......

As a Catholic I suspect the best she’ll get is permanent purgatory.

Personally, she should be sitting next to the fire, feeling the heat, forever.

I don’t care if she was a drug addict, I don’t care that she drank the koolaid. I only care about the mother with innocent child who plead for her life and the life of her unborn child and got spit on.

“I think it would be rather presumptuous to even hope that God would actually have any of us into his Kingdom.”

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight - if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.” Colossians 1:21-23

If you are a Christian, you are forced to believe that anyone who repents and believes in Christ will be saved, no matter how great his sins or crimes.

The only alternative is to admit that Christ’s sacrifice isn’t powerful enough to cover some sins.

The apostle Paul, as one example, was guilty in the murder of many Christians prior to his conversion.

That is your definition of a Christian, not mine.

Agreed.

However, in my opinion it is also the definition of the writers of the New Testament.

That girl was creepy. She looked and talked much younger than she was, and any clips of her during the trial are chilling.
