L.A. to Kanye -- We Forgive You!!!

He may be a social pariah everywhere else -- but when Kanye West made a surprise appearance at Common's benefit concert last night in Hollywood, he got a hero's welcome.

The crowd at the show -- which featured Common, Nas, Ludacris, De La Soul, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and more -- just exploded when Kanye rushed out on stage. He stayed for a few songs -- including "Good Life" and "Run This Town" -- and had the crowd going nuts the whole time.

Kanye was able to perform without interruption.

Given the audience this isn't a surprise. Personally I don't think he needs to be banished to outer darkness just because he's a boorish idiot. He said he was sorry. Any more piling on just makes him a martyr.

Yep, same comment. Just read the list of who was there applauding. At least when they group up like this they are easier to identify.

"We Forgive You!!!"

Forgive him? Hell, they were all probably cheering him on like crazy when he did it.

No doubt. Kanye West and his clowns KNEW that Taylor Swift (pronounced "Swit" back in the Hills) was too white, too blond, and just too sweet to fight back.

He could have raped her right on stage and no one would have done anything different than they have done.

It's not too late for some criminal charges here.

Given the audience this isn't a surprise.

With what audience would it be a surprise? Jay Leno's audience also cheered West when he performed a couple of days after his latest hissy fit. As you say, he apologized, and he appeared at this event to perform. Any audience that would have jeered and heckled him simply for performing would have been as boorish and rude as he was.

So the kind of people who go to concerts by Common, Nas, Ludacris, De La Soul, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli are now speaking for L.A.? Cool! I have been wondering why California is so screwed up and all of its residents have been moving elsewhere.

Grand Ole Opry?

I think their audience is pretty well-mannered. I can't imagine they'd boo or jeer Kanye West simply for appearing on stage to perform. West has no impulse control and is not nearly as bright as he thinks he is. But what he did at the VMAs was rude and stupid, not criminal. Taylor Swift is over it, and I'd bet any mainstream audience is as well. West is a comedy figure these days, though he obviously didn't want to be.

So it sounds like he was in perfect company, and in a crowd that didn't set the bar particularly high.

The audience and the fellow performers for West share the same beliefs and mores as does West. Like hangs out with the same.
