If you prefer your motorcycles to look like something out of a futuristic bikers from hell story, the 2010 Triumph Rocket III Roadster ($TBA; Early 2010) is for you. Available in all of one color we'll let you guess which one the Rocket III boasts the line's most powerful engine yet, a 2.3 liter three-cylinder beast good for 146 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. Add in Brembo brakes with ABS, a set of 43-millimeter upside-down forks, twin Kayaba shocks, and traffic-stopping looks, and you've got one helluva ride.
Now that’s just an assrocket made for suicide.
Rode one, it’s a beast. It took a few minutes before I felt comfortable opening it up. Tip: make sure your pointed where you want to be when you wick the throttle.
W00F!
I like it!
Do they still have Lucas electric?
Intersting choice of names. The Trident was a re-badged BSA Rocket 3.
I’ll stick with my 650 for now.
How was the vibration level?
2300 cc in a 3 banger is pretty big.
A ping for the Hooligans . . .
The Lucas Electric motto: “Get home before dark.”
Lucas denies having invented darkness. But they still claim “sudden, unexpected darkness.”
Lucas—inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas—inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three-position Lucas switch—DIM, FLICKER and OFF. The other three switch settings—SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.
The original anti-theft devices—Lucas Electric products.
“I’ve had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never experienced any prob...
If Lucas made guns, wars would not start either.
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.
It’s not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohm’s Law. They withdrew their efforts when they met too much resistance.
Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner “How can you tell one switch from another at night, since they all look the same?” “He replied, it doesn’t matter which one you use, nothing happens!”
Back in the ‘70s Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn’t suck.
Quality Assurance phoned and advised the Engineering guy that they had trouble with his design shorting out. So he made the wires longer.
Why do the English drink warm beer? Lucas makes the refrigerators.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.
Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb.
Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times sunwise around your car chanting: “Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.”
Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
Prior to riding this beast make sure your Organ Donor card is up to date.
Thanks.
Three cylinders actually balance better than 4.

I had a lot on my mind during that short ride . It does have a counter balancer though.
Yeah that’s 140 inch cubes. As big as a Vega, or a 4 cylinder Ranger.

“Tip: make sure your pointed where you want to be when you wick the throttle.”
Reminds me of a friend long gone from this Earth now, but about 35 years ago he put an altered VW engine in a Morushu (however it’s spelled), and didn’t have it aimed where he wanted it to go. He survived that, but managed to live to old age and expire inspite of himself.
Oooooooooooo
I wonder if the missus...
IIRC, Yamaha produced a line of air-cooled in-line 3 cyl crusers which had endless trouble with the center cylinder overheating.
LoL!
Former owner of a Triumph Spitfire. Only two electrical fires.
Those were the XS 750's. As bad as they were, the subsequent 4 cylinder XS 1100's based on the same design were rock solid.
I would think with water cooling this could be easily overcome.
Add more flow to the hot cylinder.
The only thing that worked reliably on the electrics was the AM radio
Funny thing.
Why did the Brits make so many Bikes and convertibles in the land of perpetual damp?
Cool video . . .
Thanks Martin!
That is a lovely machine. Been looking long and hard at one for over a year now. Limited funds...
After 2 MGA’s, 3 MGB’s, a Triumph TR4A, a 1966 Norton 750 Scrambler, and a 1967 Triumph Bonneville I can say they were a little bit of a problem, but when the sun shines and the tops down you get your revenge. The proof is in the cruise. Wish I had the Norton back....

I had a really sharp; looking GT6 that I bought when I got back from overseas. An electrical fire burned the entire main wire harness. Thank God I was smart enough to open the bonnet and pull the battery cable, and I had to light off a fire extinguisher that I had mounted below the drivers seat. What a mess! The best the manufacturer through a dealer would do for me was to install a toggle swith for the starter since the ignition control was fried. What a disappointment......but a really fun car to drive, I STILL dream about having that car.
A friend of mine who is a Patriot Guard rider has one of those that is a couple of years old. It freaking flies. The only way I can keep up with him is if he lets me. :-)
Work harder DANG It!
I loved driving my old spit. Fire extinguisher and all. Fun little car.
I've got a '95 Triumph Thunderbird 900 with a liquid cooled 3 cylinder engine...great fun...bullet proof...I've put over 20,000 miles on it.
Beauty is, it's an upright position, which I like...can lean over through the twisties or hang back for cruising...sounds like that Rocket has enough room to do the same thing.
I'm gonna have to get to the dealer to test ride that Rocket.
Oh......yeah....!!
SCHWING!
Those in the front or in the back?
I do not know.
As big as a Vega,
There is a memory lane. Vega GT 5 speed pretty slow, but economical. Owned during the Jimmy Carter days of misery.
Youtube is down for service...
The 2009 Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tourer, fuel injected, water cooled, belt drive. This is EXACTLY what my bike looks like without me actually taking a picture of it, I bought it the middle of last week and have only rode it twice so far.
Actually no. I have had one since Sept. 2005. They are as aggressive or as passive as the rider wants them. There is not slop in the throttle and the power is definitely there if and when you need it. They also handle amazingly well in the pouring rain too. I would like the ABS on the new version though.
