Panic At CBS AS Suits Realize They Are On The Hook For 100s of Millions $ For Letterman The Letch
Friends and fiends at network in NY | MB26

There is panic at Black Rock

Last evening, at an executive-level party attended by some of the Senior Suits from CBS, (and others,) Letterman was the ONLY topic of conversation. There was clearly panic in the air. And old friend/fiend who was there said it was more delicious than the cold Hors’ Dourves and watered down Scotch.

There was no concern for the moral implications of Letterman’s actions, of course. The big worry was about the huge cost of litigation from all the victims of Letterman’s slippery zipper.

When the news of the trouble was first announced, there was about an hour of relief that “Dave” had dodged the bullet and the show/network was safe.

Then the calls from the lawyers started. It didn’t matter whether they were from CBS outside counsel or the victims lawyers; the message was all the same. “It’s goona cost big time.” In Letterman’s pathetic attempt at humor, he had proven all the potential plaintiff’s cases, and turned millions of potential jurors against him.

At first CBS itself thought they were protected by two elements. His staff may actually work for World Wide Pants, Inc, Letterman’s separate, private production company. Sorry, but that will only slow the lawyers down for about 30 minutes. CBS provided the working environment, venue, etc.

CBS IS on the hook for any damages.

Secondly, many liability policies specifically exclude or limit coverage for sexual harassment. No one was willing to talk about that end of it…. but those that knew were not happy.

Bottom line, when all said and done, depending on how many women (and possible men) were involved/victims, CBS will probably write checks in the $100,000,000 range. They cannot afford to let this go to public trial... and therefore any settlement will be for "telephone numbers... with area codes!"

Serves them right!

And Sarah Palin’s book is doing so very well everywhere…..

Was anyone at all concerned about the award-winning blackmailer? Will more dirt be coming out about him? Was he slanting or spiking stories for cash? What all has he worked on over the years, besides 48 Hours?

Richard Simmons another of David’s friends has just struck the Lottery!

Maybe He can buy another pair of sexy shorts for David to ogle over on TV.

Not me, but I’d sure like to know what can be found about the blackmailing producer, and how many other stories he’s spiked or slanted for cash.

Don’t know if this gets them off the hook or not but yesterday I read that Letterman owns his show (Wide Pants corporation)and so is not a CBS employee but a contractor or vendor.

This is the reason they were saying Letterman was not in violation of their employment code.

Agree!!! What victims????!!??? Most likely these women were seeking some advantage in sleeping with him... or wanted the ego lift from being involved with a celebrity. Not one penny for them. CBS should be the one suing letterman if the ratings dive.

Sorry, should have realized that lawyers would not find Letterman’s non employee status more than a minor speed bump.

No sympathy... But, if I were on the jury, CBS and Letterman would both be safe.

That's the way I see it too. Embarrassment galore.. that's life, and up to the public. But, consensual sex (if that's what it was without pressure) shouldn't carry a rag-to-riches time bomb with it.

Hmm Governor Palin has the money to back her self up now after the Democrats’ Saul Alinsky tactics used on her to put her so far in debt, she couldn’t fight back. Now we realize those same Saul Alinsky tactics were used on the former President for years. And anyone else who dare dissent from the progressives point of view...and most of us, like Joe the plumber, Carrie Prejean, and everyday joe’s you and me.....don’t have the money to back ourselves, and they know it.
What is really sad, Letterman has had the mind of our young for decades......twisting their mind to what is right and what is wrong. That will take some healing. They are so warped, that when they hear of sexual abuse, and sexual promiscuousness, they clap and cheer....
